I often wear an apron when I am cooking, and was wondering if others do as well (for cooking or other household tasks). If you want to share your favorite apron, please do. Also, I remember a post once from a fabber maybe a couple years ago who shared that she bought an adorable Japanese-style cross-over apron that lodged in my mind. I am wondering if anyone else remembers that post and can point me to it or the apron in question. I think she was shopping with her mother?? It was a British store, maybe?

We have a family tradition of buying kitschy aprons while traveling. My husband loves his suit of armor one from London, and I prefer the Toro one from Madrid. A fun souvenir that starts conversations when we have people over for dinner.

I have a linen pinafore from Not Perfect Linen, a Lithuanian Etsy shop. It's the Japanese cross-back style. I wear it pretty much daily and absolutely adore it. It's a lovely company to purchase from, as they always put a lot of care into packaging and tuck a small gift in with your purchase (small linen coasters, a lavender sachet, a wooden spoon, etc). I unequivocally recommend Not Perfect for both clothes and housewares. High quality, thick, supple linen. Rustic feel, but impeccably made. In addition to my pinafore, I have a skirt, a sleeveless top, waffle-weave towels and a pair of curtains. Can you tell I'm a fan?

I have a basic blue bib apron that I like. Adjustable at the neck, two deep pockets. I had another with a button-on towel, a feature which I absolutely loved, but it was this yellow-green toile and burgundy stripe thing that started to get on my nerves... lol.

I also have some basic white aprons from school, with my name/school name, that I keep for the sake of it. But my blue is a heavier stiff canvas and adjustable, which I prefer. And not so clinical, which I think is weird at home.

Oh and of course I have my Target Victoria Beckham mini skirts with giant scallop phone pocket, that I wear as craft aprons.

My favourite apron is from Strewn Winery Cooking School. DH and I each got one when we took a weekend 'Cooking for Wine Lovers' class. Some of the recipes we learned have become house recipes. None of the other aprons gifted to me have held up to those two. The design is conventional but the fabric doesn't wrinkle, and is nice and thick. Washes great.

I wear an apron for just about every kitchen chore from emptying the dishwasher, through cooking, and into wash-up.

If you type "Japanese X type apron" in the search bar at Amazon you'll see some. I don't think I'd describe them as "adorable" but they're functional and they're great for people who can't tolerate the pressure of a strap across the back of the neck.

I always use an apron, too. That’s the first thing I grab before I start cooking.

I have several bib aprons from Smart and Final. I think they’re about $7. I also have a few homemade ones that were gifts.

I have been covering a linen xback apron for a few years now but they are pretty spendy so have never pulled the trigger . I don’t usually wear an apron when I cook - I do the kitchen towel over the shoulder method

I don't wear one, but I should and I even have one. It's classic stripe, similar to Angie's, from Williams-Sonoma. They come in all sorts of colors.

I wear aprons also. They have saved my shirts from getting spattered and stained more than once! I like to get mine from Anthropologie. I am quite short and short waisted, and they have some styles that aren't overly large.

Never have owned one. My cooking is limited to weekends when I'm wearing loungewear, and the mess ends up on the counters not me!

My aprons are the bib type made by a friend from quilting scraps. They have at least one big pocket, so are handy to wear while tidying up because things in the wrong spot can be put in an apron pocket until you get to the place they belong. Great for cooking too. Pot holders and a towel can be handy for use in a pocket.

I wear a bib style apron with a large pocket if I'm dressed up and cooking which is usually some kind of holiday . My favorite apron is yellow and white striped and was given to me by my dear Mum when my husband and I bought our first house. She made yellow curtains for that kitchen . I think of her every time I wear it . Miss her.

I am among those who seldom wear an apron, but absolutely should, so thank you for this reminder. I don't like to wear the very feminine ones, as they somehow make me feel frumpy or awkward. I prefer a more unisex style.

Aprons make me think of my mother who taught me to iron on her aprons. I wear them frequently for cooking and clean up. Every Sunday for sure.

I recently started wearing an apron for all kitchen tasks and it has saved my clothes many times.

Mine is nothing special, just a plain black synthetic bib apron with a big pocket in front, but I love the idea of something more interesting!

Gail, those are important memories attached to that apron. I think it's nice sometimes when our things can provide some company to us in that way.

Joy, that's a great point about the pockets. Mine are under-utilized. Lovely that your aprons provide memories to you.

For the record, I currently use two aprons of the bib-type. One is a gift from my sister-in-law, and one is from my mother-in-law. I guess they figured since I like to cook it was a good gift. I actually like them both a lot, but for some reason in all the years since I first saw one of those criss-cross styles that looked muted and utilitarian, similar to what La Ped and Jane posted, I continue to want to try it. Anything to make housework more fun, right?
