April's sister wonders, "What body type am I?"

Hi... I'm April's sister (really), visiting from across the country. April has been my personal style coach this week and has introduced me to the YLF site. It's so nice to see a supportive group of fashionistas together in one place and devoted to improving their style.

As you may be able to notice from the photos, I am slightly (ahem) different than April. I'm 5 inches taller for one. And I have a butt. But I digress.

What body type would you say I am?

Welcome, Mae! You look like you have a figure that can wear anything and look great. I think you look like a slight hourglass or maybe even a rectangle and with a strong shoulder line because your shoulders are wider than your hips but not so much as to be an inverted triangle.

I was going to say rectangle, or hourglass tending toward rectangle. Hmmm. Lots of different opinions!

Welcome, Mae! It's so great that you've joined April on YLF! I hope you are having a wonderful visit with your sister.

You have fantastic figure! I'm not usually a good judge of body shapes, but I think I'm going to agree with Maya and say hourglass.

I hope we get to see more of you on the forum now that you've gotten your feet wet!

My guess is straightish hourglass (like Angie!). That means an hourglass that tends toward a rectangle. You can follow guidelines for both body types.

Okay, Mae - so let's see... you're a pear, hourglass and rectangle, with inverted triangle tendencies. Hee hee - now I know EXACTLY what you should be wearing.

Just goes to show, this is harder than it seems like it should be.

My guess was rectangle with a strong shoulder line. You have a beautiful figure as does your sister. You are 5" taller than April! Wow cannot tell from pictures. I thought April was tall. Maybe we'll get to see a picture of you side by side. That would be fun.
I love it that you are April, and Mae! Your Mom has a great sense of names for sisters.

also, i have to say, i love the little teasing tone in your post when you refer to april -- it reminds me of the way i am with my own sisters, whom i miss dearly!

How fabulous! Welcome to the forum, Mae! Good job on posting pics.

Your body is very similar to mine (only you have a stronger shoulder line), and we are almost the same height! A straight hourglass – tending towards a rectangle. Hope to see more of your style :0)

Thanks for the reply, Angie! April is feeling vindicated. Her inclination was that I had a very "Angie" body type.

Cciele: Here are my specs: 5'7", Bust: 34", Waist: 28", Hips: 36", 33" inseam. Straight across shoulders: 15", straight across hips: 14". Definitely short-waisted (1 hand plus a couple of skinny fingers from bust to waist line).
