This week I’m going on a short family trip to the Dominican Republic! Long story but I was born there, my father and I just had simultaneous big birthdays, a university there wanted to give him an honorary degree. For some reason the clothing needs are throwing me into a tizzy. Factors:
1. It will be, from my perspective, unpleasantly hot and humid.
2. There is this degree ceremony, which my father says the university (a Catholic university? Not sure whether that is here or there) is taking with the utmost seriousness. Asked what is worn to this, he said “A summer dress.”
3. There may be “an afternoon reception” on a different day, hosted by a fairly elderly diplomat type.
4. City sightseeing, museums, birthday dinner at some nice restaurant. Perhaps perversely for a trip to the DR, we are unlikely to go to a beach at any point but I guess a bathing suit doesn’t take up much room in a suitcase.
5. Indeed, it’s such a short trip I probably don’t even need to worry about that.

Soooo …

1-3 Thinking of wearing this skirt with different tops for both travel days. Comfy, has pockets, can wear leggings under if needed.

4-6 Sightseeing/dinner? I think my loved ones are not huge fans of this dress but whatever.

7 Thinking of this for ceremony?? Or could re-wear the following.

8-10 Thinking of this for reception?? The top in 8 is what I like best, mom thinks I should not be sleeveless for whatever reason, but I think it is dressier.

11-13 options for something extra to throw in as backup for daytime activities.

Thank you if you read all that but I don’t blame you if you didn’t. Does this seem acceptable?? It’s been winter so long I don’t remember what I wear when it’s hot.
