Anyone watching Making the Cut? (spoilers)

I've been watching the "Project Runway" reboot Tim Gunn-Heidi Klum series "Making the Cut" on Amazon Prime. I'm a sucker for a good fashion design competition show. In this show, the winning design from each challenge is made available for the public to buy via Amazon. Pretty smart cross-promotion, huh? (And yes, I have my reservations about Amazon, but they have certainly built success on giving the people what they want.)

My favorite designer this season is Gary, and when I watched episode 5, the "Avant Garde" episode, I felt compelled for the first time in two seasons to order a piece from the show. I think Gary's "upsidedownable" denim jacket is brilliant and fun, so this is my birthday present to myself. I am tempering my expectations, as I am nowhere near a fashion model body type and not sure if I can carry this style off, but it's so cool I feel I at least need to give it a try. It supposedly can be worn two different ways, not by turning it inside-out, but upside-down!

Anyone else watching?

No, I have not been watching. But I think you should try the jacket! That denim jacket looks like you.
Now, I am 5'2" and shrinking (LOL) and know I don't have the body type for it. But I really think you do.
And even if you never turn it upside down, I think it is worth a try.
I just got up and drinking my first cup of coffee but your post was first thing I saw and am compelled to post. Try it.
I don't know anything about Amazon. I know a lot of people use them.

Why is it Levi’s branded ? Are they sponsoring him ? I have never watched the show and am only peripherally aware of it - but it is a genius marketing tool .

No you're not kkards I get stuff quick enough theres no sense getting Prime.
My tv knowledge stopped 12+ years ago, but that's a great idea- to make the winners available!

I am watching and was very tempted by Gary’s denim jacket. He deserves to win but has too many mental insecurities to be the entrepreneur that they are after. Enjoy your purchase. I also like Gary ‘s dress but wish he had done it as a graphic tee. you will look fabulous in the denim jacket.

Joy, I think part of why I am so drawn to Gary is because he reminds me of a loved one who has a mental health condition that challenges them — I wonder if Gary is on the spectrum or perhaps has a similar condition. He definitely expresses his doubts and fears, but works through them in a way I find very brave. I also think his awkwardness is kind of endearing, again, probably because it reminds me a bit of someone I love. His talent and creativity are impressive.

I also like Andrea the bridal designer — she has gone out of her comfort zone so enthusiastically! She certainly has what it takes.

Oh, that's exciting! I love Gary and the jacket...by the time I looked after watching last night on the west coast they were sold out!

Oh, bummer for folks who wanted to buy it, that it’s sold out, but I am happy for Gary! I send him an Instagram message congratulating him and expressing my fandom (haha!), telling him that I bought the coat for my birthday present. I wasn’t expecting a response but he wrote back right away thanking me and wishing me happy birthday. I thought that was so nice.

The jacket arrived this evening, and I got a chance to try it on over my loungewear (I had already showered after a hike). I think it’s really cool! Not conventionally flattering, but almost Japanese in vibe and a fun avant-garde silhouette that will look really great with slim black pants and probably other things as well — oh, I bet it would be fab over a jumpsuit! Quality seems good, and it’s a nice weight — not too heavy or stiff. I’ll try to take pics tomorrow if I get a chance.

Gary is my favorite too. I am hoping it comes back in stock and figure it might because it is a Levi collaboration.
I like Andrea too but Gary’s designs just appeal to me more.

I loved his video....he really lucked out with a model/poet!

So cool that you got to order the coat and try it on already! The website no longer says how much it costs since it is sold out. Just curious, how much is it?

I'm still patiently waiting for the dress to arrive mid-September.

I might just have to check the store on the night of the show airing, just to make sure I don't miss out on any other awesome wins!

I couldn't believe it when DH asked me the other night if I wanted to watch it. He's no fashionista, but I think I mentioned to him that our pastor watches plus he finds the drama fascinating.

I just started watching! I’m really enjoying it! Even my husband jumped on the couch to watch with me! Gary is also my favorite…such a talent. Andrea is a close second for me. Her pieces are very…accessible…for my taste.

After we watched Episode 5, I was so proud I could show your pics to DH. And belated happy birthday!
