Anyone watch the World Series?

My team, the SF Giants, got beat in the playoffs by the Cubs. So I was rooting for the Cubs, due to the 108 year drought, and it makes the Giants look better. After all, they were beat by the winners. The series was actually pretty good, IMO.

So naturally my thoughts turned to fashion. What version of pants/socks do you prefer? Left to right:
1) full length pants
2) short pants with "sanitary" socks and stirrup socks
3) short pants with long socks

DH was born in Chicago and son lives there now, so lots of family and friends there. So DH watched the games and I watch the very end. A cousin lives two blocks from Wrigley Field, so she was up half the night putting up photos of the crowds milling around on her street.

I was surprised to see the Cubs in long pants. I guess I haven't kept up on baseball because it looked a bit strange to me. I think the stirrup socks look good, but only because I've been used to seeing it all my life. I think the long pants look a bit floppy and could cause problems sliding into a base.

So funny, my husband was LITERALLY just talking about it as I clicked on your post. I watched some of it. My son and husband watched the whole series.

MSMaven, it must have been very exciting for your husband. It was exciting for me. I can't find a picture of the Cubs in stirrup socks. I thought it was interesting that a "uniform" is so un-uniform, that pants could differ, and socks as well (for Cleveland, anyway).

Isabel, I watched the whole series, except for last night when I went to a meeting, and missed the beginning. But it went to ten innings, and had a rain delay, so I saw a lot of it. I'm happy for the Cubs. Thankfully I'm on Pacific time!

My husband loves sports, so the games have been on non-stop. I sit on the sofa with my laptop and watch great plays on the replay, or we rewind a bit. This one definitely got exciting. I was happy it was a good game, and happy the rain delay was short, and happy it only went 10.
I was sort of rooting for Cleveland, as I went to a Giants/Cleveland game years ago when DS2 was in maybe 3rd grade or so. DS2's friend's family was from Cleveland, and the Giants were behind the whole game, but pulled it out at the end. We ran into the friend and his family and the kid was in tears. So, I've been thinking about him all series long.

#1, #2, but definitely not #3.

Barbara Diane, interesting. We went to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field about ten years ago. They were playing the Giants. We went with my husband's old college roommate and his wife. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, from the beautiful park, the views of sailboats on the lake, the people around us who were so nice, just everything.

#3 in the first picture was the Cleveland pitcher. The whole time I thought it was weird looking, especially with red shoes.

After the Cavs came back from a 1:3 deficit to beat the Warriors last year (no, I haven't recovered from that), I was kind of rooting for the Cubs to come back from their 1:3 deficit to beat the Indians! I know that isn't very nice. Judge me as you will. Plus the whole 108 years thing and the beating the Giants thing...I was hoping the Cubs would win. Also: OMG such an exciting game!!
I usually like full-length pants. My second favorite style is whatever Hunter Pence is wearing. (Did you see his Halloween costume? The best.)

Clara, I agree with you! I was rooting for the Cubs despite being a Giants fan. Here's HP in his uniform. His pants looks very odd, pushed up above his knee like that, IMO.

I'm not a baseball fan but my oldest (25) has been a Cubs fan practically his whole life so we had to watch, even though he was not home watching with us - call it sympathy watching It was a pretty exciting series. I missed the end of the games, too late for me, but they were still fun. A couple of years ago my son predicted very publicly that 2016 would be their year so he's pretty happy to be right.

Congrats to your son! Are you back east? The games came on at 5 here. One of them I didn't even realize it was on until 6 pm.

I don't watch much baseball but I was born in Chicago and most of my extended family lives there. However, my BIL is from the Cleveland area and I'm friends with some of his family on Facebook. Between the two different families my Facebook feed has been filled with baseball posts all week. I honestly would have been happy no matter who had won.

Sara, how lucky you were! If I were to pick two teams, I guess the Giants and the Cubs. But that would never happen because they're both in the National League.

Another household here that rooted for the Cubs due to the Warriors' loss to Cleveland. . .Plus DD now lives in CHI and was outside Wrigley Field celebrating last night. She said everyone at work looked and was so tired today.

The full length uniform pants make already long legs look very disproportionate, says she with the short legs. I guess superstitious players wear whatever has brought them luck?

In Bull Durham, one of my favorite baseball movies, they showed a lot of superstition, including voodoo.

This native of Cleveland rooted for the Indians, who almost pulled it out despite some major roster holes due to injuries. Cavs were in the same situation in the 2015 NBA finals. A heathy cavs team came back and took it in 2016. Go tribe in 2017.
Not feeling the love, we have a saying in Cleveland UAW- us against the world.

CUBS 2016 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS

Didn't miss a moment of a single game. I plan to wear that ugly hat with pride!

JAileen, I'm in Michigan so the games didn't end until midnight or later for me. I have to get up at 5:45 so anything past 11:00 is just too late for me. We had a lot of Cubs fans around here, a lot of Chicago connections in my area.

Michigan isn't that far from Chicago. Oh those late games must have killed you. I had to look it up, but Michigan is mostly in Eastern Time, but some Central Time. We were in Minnesota last week and a few games were on in Central Time for us. It seemed weird.

Stayed up and watched the feed of the people watching outside of Wrigley Stadium. Such great drama in the last game -- rain delay, tarp controversies, tie game with extra innings. I don't care much for organized sport of any king, but I enjoy watching people dig deep for their best efforts. Both of these teams were classy and gifted, and it's good to see the Spirit of Chicago celebrated!

Shedev, a friend who is such a big Giants fan that she has an entire room in her house as a dedicated shrine to them, told me today that she was rooting for the Indians, because the Cubs had beat the Giants. So you have friends outside Ohio.

Hubby went to games 1 & 2 and was happy to see the Cubs win one of them. Watched each day at home. Kids stayed up the last two games. I loved game 7! Either team deserved the win, but I am so happy that the CUBS came through at the end!

I like the full length pants.
