Anyone watch Project Runway? "Plus size" models

I just watched the finale and one of the contestants' collection was for plus size women. I was floored: the so-called "plus size" models were my size!! I wear 10 or 12. The designer herself is plus size.

I love Project Runway! It's one of my guilty pleasures. I commented to my husband that the plus-size models were normal women sized. They're just plus-sized compared to the incredibly thin normal models. I actually liked Kelly's collection better, but was pretty sure that Ashley would win based on how everyone kept commenting on how "brave" she was to design a plus sized collection.

I'm a faithful PR watcher, too. I was hoping Kelly would win, but pleased for Ashley. I don't recall them mentioning her models' sizes, but those women were gorgeous!

I watched and noted the same thing about the models! I uses I don't really know what size criteria they use to define a plus size model ? I liked Ashley's collection, it was colorful and fun. I also liked Kelly's collection. I was impressed with how much they were able to alter their collections in only two days after receiving feedback from the judges on a few of their looks. I think the correct two were in the lead, but I'm glad I wasn't one of the judges because it would have been hard to make a decision between the two. Kelly has a great personality and attitude, she's so positive and friendly. This season was one of my favorites because the contestants were mostly kind to each other even though they were still competitive.

Sara, I don't think you should consider watching it a guilty pleasure any more than anything else. Otherwise, all we would watch would be PBS News Hour, and maybe CSPAN!

Xtabay, I liked Kelly, too, but also Ashley.

Staysfit, did you not see the team episode where they all ganged up on Ashley? Not very nice, at all. I never forgave the other woman (Candace?) for her back stabbing. Although Kelly participated in that too.

Yes, Candace was throwing shade at Ashley, and it wasn't a good look for her. I didn't like her after that. She did get her comeuppance, though, didn't she? I kind of wished they'd just let her show her collection as she originally designed it. That wooden dress was quite intriguing!

Edmond was fantastic, and I was so happy he was brought back to compete in the finale. I think he has a great career ahead, despite not winning the prize. His models looked sexy in a very classy way.

Xtabay and Joy, I liked that Edmund was in the finale, also. He's very talented, and I'm sure he'll go far. Candace's comeuppance was very satisfying. I shouldn't feel that way, I know, but she was very cruel.

For me, the best thing about Project Runway is Tim Gunn! I love his story about meeting "Vivian Vance" at the FBI.

Tim is a treasure! I want to hear the interview he did with Teri Gross on NPR's Fresh Air. I missed the "Vivian Vance" story -- was that on the show?

Xtabay, I can't remember when I heard it. His father was J. Edgar Hoover's right hand man. He wrote all of his speeches and other stuff. Tim Gunn recalled visiting his father at the FBI offices, and "Vivian Vance" was in Hoover's office, and was introduced to him. Later, he found out Vivian Vance had never visited the FBI, and that it was actually Hoover himself, in drag!

Wow, what a story! I wonder if adult Tim ever got to help Hoover pick out his outfits, heh. And take him to the Mary Kay makeup studio. The only time Tim has ever let me down is when he did that show with Veronica Webb. They didn't have good chemistry, and there was one episode where Tim just couldn't figure out why some of their clients wanted their tushes to look large! That completely befuddled him.

Hoover died when Tim was 19 or so. I don't remember Veronica Webb at all. I do think Tim and Heidi Klum seem to get along great.
