Anyone try Trunk Club? - YouLookFab Forum

I just tried Trunk Club for the first time. I was looking for a dress for an event and the other dress that I used for these occasions really needed to be replaced. I live outside of DC so I went to the loft and met with the stylist in person. The appointment was 1.5 hours and I met with the stylist after I filled out my on line sizes and gave feedback on outfits I liked. After I spoke with the stylist, she pulled several different dresses for me and based on my taste and fit, she went and pulled several more. In the end, I chose my new dress of course with the input from the stylist. My stylist was not pushy or impatient. It was a great experience for several reasons. I got more attention than I ever would have from a in store sales person. I only paid for the cost of the dress (Nordstrom points since it is a Nordstrom owned company). I got something that looks amazing that I never would have picked myself. See it below in finds. I would recommend for those who can go in person to meet up with a stylist. Anyone else try this service?

Is everything at Trunk Club from Nordstrom? How is it different than booking an appointment with a Nordstrom stylist?

I have never tried the trunk club but wanted to say how lovely the dress is.

Barbara, I do believe everything is from Nordstrom but the stylist is fully focused on you and your goals, while, I found, the Nordstrom stylist is distracted, not always there when you try something on and some are about the sale.

Thanks everyone- Trunk club provided the service I needed in my case. I would not want to get a box every month, that is not what I am looking for. I rather have an in person refresh of the season.

I've had four trunks --created by two different stylists-- delivered with mixed results: one or two acceptable items out of the four to ten shipped. The trunks focus on reasonable quality at a reasonable price.

This stylist listens better but still can't get my sizing right (even though I have given her a list of what size in what brand); I suspect that perhaps a missy stylist can only include one plus item and vice versa.

The advantage to the Trunk Club, however, is that they sometimes can get items that sell out immediately at the B&M Nordies. I wouldn't bother with the Trunk Club if my local store were larger; I wouldn't bother if it weren't a hassle to get to the flagship store.

Gee, Pree, now I'm wondering why I'm bothering at all!

Carida, do you have a place where you can meet the trunk club stylist in person? I found it really helped with my sizing, fit and taste. Most importantly, due to the in person attention, I found a great fitting dress that I would have never picked out. I think that is hard when they just mail you items that you don't try on with them.

Funny you should ask, I just found out about this and looked it up. It does sound interesting. I am hard to fit though, so I hesitate.

Yes, and I was happy, but I was very thoughtful about the process, and had low expectations. I have ended up with two absolute workhorse cardigans, that were pricey, but I'll get full value out of, and a nice pair of white jeans, that again, I will wear into the ground. And a pair of navy booties, that like my fussy feet, and the combination of the color and the foot happiness, again, made them worth it. What would not be worth it to me would be tops--easy to find for me and I don't really have fit issues. I intend to use it now and again, to source basics that are frustrating and annoying to shop for, and that because of that, I'm not very price sensitive about. I'm getting tops more frequently at a charity resale shop, which is great, because if I get bored or if it is a fail, I can donate it back and try again.

My husband has been using Trunk Club for a couple of years now and he swears by it. I tried it once and I didn't think it was worth the price, although I will admit one of the items was my all time favorite pair of pants ever.

I am super intrigued. I make extremely detailed shopping lists so I've always thought it made sense to just do my own shopping, but I love the idea of having someone find things for me that I might not try on my own.

RobinF- because you are hard to fit is a good reason to try it in person. They have tailors on site which really helps with fitting properly.

KikiG- Probably won't be necessary for tops for you, but you may want to try for other items that are harder to shop for.

MsMary- I didn't pay anything except for the cost of clothes. Did they charge you otherwise?

Lesley- I think this would perfect for someone with a detailed list so they know what you want and like. I shared my pinterst board with the stylist of things I wanted and bought so she knew my taste and helped mix and match items.

That is a gorgeous dress. I’ve heard of Trunk Club but haven’t considered it.

Pree, I just meant the things they sent me were quite a bit more expensive than the things I would normally choose. Like the magical pants, which were something like $300! Totally worth it in that case but a whole trunk full of items at that price point (or a fantastic $500 maxi dress ) is a little eye-popping to me.

This a a little old, but I love Trunk Club. I might keep 2-3 items out of the 10 or so that get sent. Given that I get one monthly, I try to be discerning in what I keep. I'm also a small plus-size woman, so I enjoy getting clothes that are in my size. My local Nordstrom store has a relatively small plus-sized section, so I have to order online most of the time for the best selection.

It's fun to try different types of things that I would have never picked off the rack. I kept a pair of blue Ray Ban sunglasses that I love, a Gabby Skye dress that is fabulous, and the list goes on.

My stylist and I are still getting to know each other on shoes, though! I've only kept maybe one pair of the eight she's picked out.

reading and seeing this is old but also responding - This winter I realized I needed a refresh in my tops and like featherwich my two nordstroms have a limited plus sized section - I'm also not plus size always on top so need a 0X or XL.
I had 4 trunks and kept 2 tops each time and I will say each of those tops is in high high rotation. The stylist hit it on the mark - I was very explicit about what I wanted and collected a pintrest board with my style.
She nailed it and for me it was great - I have not patience to scroll though the pages of tops to find my style.
So for me it was worth it and would do it again in a heartbeat if I found myself realizing I needed a refresh.

Trunk Club also now does the anniversary sale. I went in person to the DC studio and my stylist pulled a bunch of sale items on the first day of the sale. Got some stuff I’d never have tried. I liked the experience so much I’m not doing the boxes anymore and instead will go in person every few months. One of the things I liked the most was my stylist showed me several shoe/jewelry options for each outfit, or changed how the shirt was tucked and it transformed the look. I have a hard time doing that so it was helpful seeing the thought process.

That is great to know. I didn’t have a chance to go downtown to do that. Next year!
