Anyone have experience with Eileen Fisher pants?

I'm on a quest for black slim (possibly crop) pants this fall, and I ordered a bunch of NAS options to try. I also saw some Eileen Fisher pants that were marked down not part of NAS, and those came today. They are a slim ponte pant, and I like them quite a bit. A pretty thick fabric that seems like it is of good quality. I won't make any final decisions until I compare it to the other contenders, but this is the nicest (or at least the most expensive) pair I ordered. I think it looks good for travel, can dress up or down, and I've been enjoying working non jeans into my daily wardrobe. Right now it's not too loose and not too tight.

Do any of you have EF Ponte pants? Do they stretch out much? These have an elastic waist, so some relaxing would be ok, but hopefully they wouldn't get too sloppy. Do you dry clean, or is wash and hang ok?

In general, just looking for opinions for pants from this brand.

I have a pair I've worn for probably five years now. They've held up really well, I still wear them to work. I wear them as pants and under dresses so they are year round wonders for me. The only wear issue for me are one or two snags courtesy of my cats but I think I'm the only one that notices it. I wash cold and dry low or dry flat. I get many wears in between washings since they don't stretch out.

If you keep them, I think you'll be awfully satisfied.

I own them in dark charcoal (purchased a couple of years ago). Mine do not stretch out at all. I wash and hang to dry.

I have several pair. No bagging or pilling. Gentle cycle wash and hang to dry. Everything about them is easy.

I love all my EF pants. They are a cropped look for me, even if they are supposed to be full length, so they are for summer only, but they hold up well. I machine wash on cold, using a front load 30 minute cycle with low spin, and then hang dry.

My EF pants are workhorses. The only thing I dislike about them is most don't have pockets. The quality is good, and they wear very well. I have a pair of black ponte pants that's four years old and going strong. I hand wash and dry flat because my husband helpfully (not) washed the gray pair in the machine and dryer and they shrunk a couple inches in length. I wear those as crops.

Echoing others, my EF pants are workhorses. I have the black washable crepe slim ankle pants, the black ponte that you posted, and a bunch of others (wide leg ankle crop washable crepe with pockets, bootcut that fit like yoga pants in washable crepe and ponte...). They are more expensive than other options it there, but fabric and construction are so superior. No pilling, no bagging or sagging. And they cover all seasons for work with tunics or dresses, weekend wear, travel wear. I wash all in cold on gentle cycle, hang to dry. I've found that all of the fabrics do shrink slightly in length over time unless hung to dry (clip by hems). I get like-new wear for 5 years or so, gradually move older pairs to lounge and gym wear.

I don't have any personal experience, but just yesterday my friend mentioned how much she liked EF pants. She said she would wear them everyday, except for the cost. So she wears pants from REI instead.

I have five pairs of EF pants, and all of them are well-loved and being worn constantly. Just follow the care instructions and they'll last forever. They've been a great investment.

I have those pants and they are workhorses. Mine do not bag out at all. I hand wash and hang to dry. They are perfect travel pants and versatile. I sometimes wear them under dresses, roll or tuck under the hems to crop them temporarily in warm weather, tuck them into boots and dress them up with a silk tunic and dressy flats. Mine are black, but I'd love a pair like Sterling's in charcoal.

KG - I am happy to see you can go several wears between washings. And I understand about cat claws.

Sterling - I had hoped to hear from you here. I know you wear EF bottoms and like them. I'm also glad to know they don't stretch out for you.

Clementine - glad they don't need dry cleaning. That always significantly cuts down on wears for me, as they would wait around needing to go to the dry cleaners.

Staysfit - they won't really be full length for me either. That's always been my hesitation in trying this brand. But I am able to wear crop pants all year round.

AL - good point about the lack pockets. I don't mind no front pockets, but I do miss a back pocket to put a phone in. I know your husband was just trying to be helpful, but that's just the reason why my husband is not allowed to do my laundry.

GR - These pants are not quite full length for me. So if they do shrink slightly I think it would be OK because it will just be a slightly more pronounced crop.

I'm happy to hear such good reviews. The other pants would need to really impress to pull ahead of these. If they end up being workhorses for me too, I will be very pleased.

Xtabay - I try to be gentle in my washing. Glad they have worked out for so many.

I have two pairs of EF - one pair of ponte, one a legging style - Both machine wash (front loader) and hang dry. They can be worn multiple times without stretching out and even after 4 years are not washed out looking.... So happy with them.

OMG !!!! I have been stalking EF pants for about 3 months. LOL I want a lightweight , easy wear pair of black pants for summer and there is a similar pair to yours ( in a lighter fabric ) that gets rave reviews. So great and timely thread. Thank you.

Isabel - I hadn't looked too hard at EF because I think of them as too short for me, but when I decided to pursue something slim but not tight, and cropped or full length, they just showed up in my size. of course, the other 5! pair I ordered will need to be returned. FWIW, I've done the same scatter shot ordering for black booties. They should all mostly be here by Friday and will get it all sorted then. Hope you get some that work for you. Which ones are you looking at?

I have a pair, and they are great. I wash, pop in the dryer for 10 minutes to de-wrinkle, and then hand dry.

They have held up really well.

I would've ordered more, but I found another retailer that does ponte pants as nice as EF at a lower price point.

I'd say 90% of my work pants are now ponte as they are so comfortable and still look professional.

Hi Delurked, hahahaha...the price of finding the perfect ( or near perfect item for our lives ) is trying on a lot of stuff.
