Anyone familiar with Poetry?

I got a catalog in the mail from Poetry -- http://www.poetryfashion.com -- today and, wow, it looks spot-on for my style. I'd never even heard of them before, but the catalog is chock-full of natural fibers and relaxed fits, and items go up to a US 18. Has anyone ordered from them before?

I ordered some draped tees, linen pants, and long linen skirts from them in 2014. Still get their catalogs, but haven't ordered anything since then (a bit of personal style shift).

The fabrics are really nice and substantial, especially the linen pants. I've found linen from other brands to sometimes be too sheer. Poetry's was hefty and draped nicely. Though check the item description first - I do think they use different weights of linen in different items. Summer items are probably of lighter weight, just guessing.

Also, they are generously sized, and go up to US18. Back in 2014, some skirts and pants gave you a choice of length. Don't know if they still do that.

When I bought the items, I was 5'10" and about 190lbs, curvey figure. Even the 14's were generous. Again, 3 years ago, so check their size charts first!

I like their colors, and how everything goes together. A bit like Eileen Fisher. The only con is that the sweaters look too boxy for where I'm trying to go with my closet - just me!

I'm really thinking about the velvet pants!!

I've never tried their shoes.

That helps a lot, binkle! Your size (at least, three years ago) is close to mine, so I'll be sure to double-check the size chart if I decide to order.

I have ordered from Poetry a few times. I've pretty much given up on them though I still look at their catalog. I agree with most of what Binkie says. I love their fabrics and colors, but I am not fond of their tailoring. It's not only that they run large, but also that nothing follows the lines of the body.

I've visited their stores and colours and fabrics are beautiful. For me their sizing and cut isn't right, but I wish it was.

Sounds like I'll just have to try it to see if the cuts work for me. I'll definitely be making an order soon.

Jenn, I got that catalog yesterday too. Definitely a similar look to EF and I think that the quality is comparable. For spring, I bought an embroidered cotton top plus a raw silk dress and have enjoyed wearing both of them. I agree that their sizing is generous.

I've been getting their catalog for a couple of years, and finally bought a couple of items from them last year – some flared white jeans and the pewter velvet palazzo pants. I love both! The velvet pants are wonderful for the holidays, so versatile.

Another catalog I like that has a similar style is The Wrap.

Pretty sure Poetry and Wrap London are the same company. Websites nearly identical.

I think you're right, Laura G. The verbiage on their info pages is exactly the same.

That's really interesting. I have the current fall catalogs for both, and the clothes, while similar in aesthetic, are definitely different. So same company, two different collections?

Yeah, I agree, Berkeley Girl. The Poetry aesthetic appeals to me more than the Wrap London one, but I see the overlap. They could be sister companies, kind of like UO and Anthropologie.

Hi, Jenn. I get both catalogues but have yet to order from Poetry. If you give them a try will you let us know how it goes?

I owned a heather purple boiled wool coat from Wrap London that pleased me much until my puppy chewed a hole in the pocket. Haven't ordered anything since, mainly because price, but the coat felt like a good value. I wore it for years and liked the fabric. My sense about both catalogs is that they offer simply made clothes in a range of nice fabrics (wool, silk, linen and some manmade fibers) in a nice/neutral palette.

Confused by fact that their catalogs and sites are so similar. I mean, Wrap and Poetry are so obviously part of the same company so why isn't that stated?

Huh, I either didn't know or had forgotten the Anthro and UO are sister companies. But their looks are so different it makes sense to separate them. The Wrap and Poetry are so similar in style, it's a little odd. But now that you guys have pointed it out, it's obvious they're related – same catalog format and everything.

Both catalogs have really appealed to me in the couple of years since they started appearing in my mailbox. So far I've only ordered the two items from Poetry and have yet to order from The Wrap, but this season I have my eye on a few things in their catalog, especially a lovely cream-colored sweater coat...
