Anyone else having issues with the YLF site/sizing on your PC?

For about the last week or so, I've noticed that I can view YLF and the forum pages perfectly, and normally, on my iPad. But on my laptop, the fonts are HUGE, and about 1/3 of the pages are just the blank background for the site. It's distracting and bizarre to look at. For example, when I typed in the subject line for this post, it looks like an 84-point (or thereabouts) font size. What I am typing right now, I am guessing is about a 48-point.

I use Google Chrome as my browser, but this was never an issue before. I looked at the Chrome setting, and it is at 100% - not enlarged.

Is anyone else having problems viewing this site on their PC? It looks correct on iPad, but I'm a clumsy typist on iPad.

That is very strange. Are you using a Mac laptop?

As a follow-up, let me note: when I posted a link on Inge's weekly links forum (using my PC), none of the editing tools display: italics, bold, underline, adding photos, putting in hyperlinks.

On the main forum page, the Technical Support category does not display. (I had to click on my name + View Forum Posts to bring this post back up). I can view the Style Exchange and Off-Topic, though.

Please let me know if there is anything else I should check and report back Again, the issues are when I use my PC + Google Chrome.

I just want to confirm that you're talking about a Windows PC, and not a Mac.

Thanks for the additional info. That bit about the editing controls not appearing is very helpful.

It sounds to me like something is corrupted in the browser. In order to speed things up, browsers like Chrome store bits of web pages so that it can re-use them the next time you go to the page. What might have happened is that these bits got corrupted. I am going to do something on my end that should force all browsers to reload things afresh.

Please let me know if you still can't see the editing controls.

Greg, sorry the follow up took so long, I use Windows on a PC. Strangely, I never saw your first reply, but that was likely because I didn't refresh the page or something.

ETA I am going to check my laptop tomorrow and will see if clearing out cookies, etc. helps.

This morning I also saw this problem. It might have been the result of an update to Chrome that I hadn't seen yet.

What was happening is that YLF thought the Chrome browser was a phone and was using the layout for a small screen (hence the giant text). I have fixed this now and things should be back to normal.

Please let me know if you still see the problem, or if you see it again in future.
