YAY !!!!! Everyone is out. I was a bit annoyed that some news stations/internet coverage was stopped after the last miner was rescued, because there were still 6 rescuers down there. I couldn't sleep until I knew the last guy was up. So I finally got out of bed and turned on CNN and 10 minutes later, there he was, the last rescuer.
Really an incredible miracle at a time when I thought miracles no longer existed.
I am so proud that this country played such a prominent role ( did you know that NASA, among many other things, designed the Fenix ? )
And I don't even know what to say about those amazing miners and rescuers and engineers. I was particularly impressed with the shift supervisor who planned and strategized and thought to set up a "day" area and a "night " area to keep the circadian rythms going....really incredible, incredible presence of mind and ability..
Sparky, regarding the shaving kits helping them to stay sane, I completely agree !! When I was expecting my little girl, I was on permanent bed rest for 6 months. Many of those days were spent alone in my bedroom ( or watching Judge Judy and Dr. Phil ). My wonderful husband would leave everything I needed for the day on table next to my bed, including accessories !!! I would wash up, do my hair, pluck my eyebrows, put on my jewelry and often a scarf. I looked like a drag queen by the time my husband got home at night !!! But it kept me going and gave me a sense of normalcy and something to do.
Regarding the wife and mistress. The miner, apparently, left his wife quite some time ago to live with his girlfriend/mistress. And both women considered themselves married to him. Since he was married to the first in the Church, the Chilean government considered her is "wife". Eventually, they let the miner decide and he picked the woman, of course, that he has been living with.
