Anyone buy from Peruvian Connection?

I got a catalog from them today and I thought that e.g, the curiosities tee http://www.peruvianconnection......ton+tee.do and the meridian jacket http://www.peruvianconnection......rom=Search looked nice

But catalog orders are risky unless you know quality and fit

I've received their catalogs for years but never bought anything. The items look beautiful and I love their use of Pima cottons and alpaca. I think the quality would be good, don't know about sizing. I think the look head to toe is a little too boho for me, but some of the pieces could stand on their own.

I agree that head to toe would be too much. I was reading a blog the other day and the author was talking about a particular quilted jacket as having the potential to give off the "I am a potter" vibe. I feel that some of the Guatemalan poncho pieces have that sort of possibility attached to them.

Sorry, no experience. But have had same response to catalog- some pieces look very interesting , like could be fun statements, but maybe difficult to try out. Cost and effort and not my dominant lifestyle.

I have ordered from them since the mom started the business in the 90's. The quality is excellent. I love going to their store in Washington D.C.

ETA - I will be purchasing these tees in black and white. Love the length of the sleeves.

I've purchased a dress there that worked really well for me and I sized according to their chart and reviews. I'm not sure I've ordered anything else except a scarf once.

I have a new dress & a new cardigan from PC, so I can't say yet how they will wear, but the quality of the fabric & knit is very good. I am a 12/14 pear shape and found sizing comfortably generous for everything I tried on.
The catalog part is tricky because color is not well represented, and sometimes they choose photos where you can't see the drape or the neckline is covered. I ordered a range of things and figured I'd be returning several.
I wish I were a potter (and I am an art quilter), and I would be happy head-to-toe in these clothes....

I have 3 Peruvian Connecion pieces in alpaca, a cardigan and 2 sweater dresses that I bought from a member on the Style Exchange. All are great quality, soft and warm. The alpaca does not pill although the fibers are long. I hand wash gently and lay flat to dry.

Peruvian connection has incredible fashion on paper (also prices). However, over the years their quality terribly deteriorated while prices went even higher. It is risky to buy from them.
I discovered Peruvian connection approximately 10 years ago. The quality reflected quite well its prices at that time. I still have a dress that looks like new after repeatedly wearing and washing for over 10 years.
However, I rarely ordered anything past 7 years (usually when I could not resist and hoped for its "old great quality")......90% items I ordered past 7 years had to returned. Shipping cost are very expensive and you pay for return shipping as well.
I lately ordered 2 hand crochet dresses (incredible on photos)...I still think they are great, however this is my 3rd weekend when I am sitting next to window and finishing these crotchet dresses because there are dozens of unfinished running threads.....I just do not want to return these 2 dresses because these are beautiful and I do not have time to crochet them by myself....however I know how to knit and crochet but I feel very sorry for majority of women who have to idea how to fix these "poorly secured crochet" dresses.
My other experience is that sweaters are made from inferior quality alpaca and when sweaters arrive colors are different than those on their webpage/catalog. Also, their beautiful T-shirts have colors that would bleed (are quite unstable, creating "maps") after washing.....if you can find Peruvian connection old items in great conditions - go for it (I always look for old Peruvian connection stuff on eBay) but be very careful with their latest fashion.
Waste of money unless money is not the issue.

I really like the look, but it's not very practical for my real life. Peruvian Connection is up there to dress my fantasy. My husband buys me something every once in a while that is terribly impractical but also very beautiful. I have a black chiffon roses corset blouse that I wore to a Civil War ball with a hoop skirt. It worked quite well. I also wear it for Halloween sometimes. I think that their figure has wide shoulders and deep chest, so it droops a bit on my straight frame. I have a pima dress with a beautiful woven design that catches on everything. I should fix the dangling threads. I have a coco style cardigan in mauve and gold, and it also has dangling threads everywhere though it is very warm and quite chic. Last summer I went to DC and actually tried stuff on. I really liked the fit of their white embroidered peplum type top. I wore it a great deal and it held up to washing surprisingly well. I guess you never know what you're going to get, but be wary...

Interesting review Blacktomato. I received their catalogues for years, and while tempted, I don't remember buying anything from them. It is sad how the quality of so many products have gone downhill in recent years. Am I correct in remembering that they had a store at the Stanford Mall? It was in the "back" side that I often skip.

They used to send me catalogues regularly, and I thought the clothes were interesting and unusual. Unfortunately, they are far too expensive for me so I've never ordered.
