I hang my "in season" scarves on men's tie holders in color groups (those multi arm Tshaped ones) and let them drape down the side of my armoire. Right now I'm featuring woolens and a few go-with-anything silks. I don't wear a lot of colorful clothes, so having the more colorful scarves out and about reminds me to add a pop of color at the very end of putting myself together. When the season passes, I re-edit my choices then hand wash and store the out of season options away from light and dust in a hat box until their time comes again.
I keep my everyday lingerie in two large, flat baskets tucked into the shelves of a rustic pine olive oil display stand I bought at a tag sale. Bras, panties and foundation garments get rolled and tucked into one basket; socks and tights are rolled and tucked into the second. Both baskets have cotton liners to avoid any snags, and I can easily see every item when I pull out that particular basket. Sexier lingerie is stored in a large hatbox up in my husband's side of the closet because he's the one who reminds me to actually wear it!
We don't have a walk-in closet or a conventional chest of drawers. We have open shelving down the middle of our shared, single pole closet, a generously scaled antique armoire with more shelves, and a few smaller pieces of open shelving, so I have gotten used to living with bits of clothing storage worked in here and there around our room. I don't mind so long as everything has a place to be put away, is stored attractively, and can be easily found when needed.
