Anybody else ever done something like this?

I was walking down the sidewalk from my car to the thrift store the other day, and I got to wondering why on earth my purse was so freaking heavy. So I started digging as I walked.

Imagine my surprise when my hand touched an entire bunch of bananas that I had tossed in there at work a couple of days before (I work at a produce stand) and promptly forgotten about.

I'd ask "who does this sh*t?" but apparently the answer to that question is "Cindy"

I used to think it was weird that I'd find random squeak toys for Mollie in my purse, but that seems tame compared to an entire bunch of two day old bananas.

What's the weirdest/most random thing you've ever found in your purse?

Those bananas look good. You are lucky that you found them before they rotted.
One summer I was shopping for sneakers for my kids. They were not wearing socks at the time. I went through my purse and sure enough I found the thick socks that they needed to try on the sneakers. You could find almost anything in my bag...

A friend once backpacked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and all the way back up. When she unpacked she discovered a textbook-size hardcover guide to tropical fish at the bottom of her bag.

When I first started using reusable grocery bags, they were cotton and floppy. I thought I had emptied them, but several weeks later I found an old avocado in one, in the back of my car. It didn't look very good.

A large heavy metal tape measure. I also carry slippers or short socks for wearing at homes where wearing shoes is frowned upon.

Rocks. My 3 year old is obsessed with rocks, and his precious finds frequently make their way into my bag, where they are forgotten. Until my bag starts to feel suspiciously heavy.

Hahaha, Cindy! I am happy that I am not alone. I am even ashamed to tell what I can find in my bag. Marred fruits, cookies reduced to crumbs, "balled up" pantyhose. Recently a bra. One day I was wearing a bothersome bra so at the end of the day before quitting the office I took it off and tossed it into my bag. Next day at work I rummaged into my bag looking for something and hop, the bra came out. Luckily there were no male coworkers around in that moment .... Funniest story ever was when, cleaning the inside of my car, I found under the seat a mysterious object that looked like a piece of wood, wrapped up in a supermarket bag. It took me many minutes before realizing it was a mummified salami. It had probably fallen there and for some months I had not seen it. This shows you how often I clean my car .... (says sheepishly).

For me the worst thing were those that I could not identify any more - were there for so long that they morphed into something unrecognizable.

I was driving to work one morning, with my tote bag on the seat beside me. I was surprised when my cat (then a small kitten) emerged from it. He'd crawled inside to investigate and then fallen asleep. I was a bit late to work that day, owing to my sudden trip back home!

Well, the worst thing I find is moldy half-eaten bagels, thanks to 3yo DS.

Nothing comes to mind for my own bags, although they do seem to fill up very quickly with receipts and tissues - I think they breed in there!

Whenever I work special events my bags turns into emergency kits where I try to shove various items in there to prepare me for any contingency I can think of... first aid items and toiletries and undergarments and shoes and snacks and backup outfits etc etc etc...

I combat purse clutter by keeping purses as small as possible lol

I've discovered all kinds of things -- usually stuff like photo gear but also random items like dog chews or screwdrivers.

I don't do that stuff, really. I have a separate tote bag that I've known to put food in, though. I guess that counts.

I'll tell my cat Mickey he won, Janet. He's a big old goofball now and couldn't get away with hiding in even my biggest bag!

This reminds me that our dog loves to put things in bags. If I set a one on the floor, it is likely to contain at least one dog toy like a Kong or antler when it is used next. Sometimes I find a shoe that has gone missing. Once a leash.

A week's worth of water bottles. Full. Multiple pads of paper and materials related to a week's worth of meetings and programs. Food.
Nothing as cute as a kitten or a pet toy.

Banana- yes. Lunch containers. Jewelry I thought I'd lost but took off when in dressing room. Tile or flooring samples -- yes, why so heavy today?
