Any Recommendations for baby items on NAS?

My first grandchild, due in December, is a boy! Now I can shop:) Are there any items in the NAS sale (or not) that anyone would recommend? It's been a really long time since anyone in the family has had a baby and I'm clueless.

Whenever friends are expecting, I typically pick something from Tea. They have beautiful clothing for children. They are based in SF but their clothing is usually inspired from some location outside the US. Plus, it's unique - not something that everyone will gift.

Congratulations! You can find lots of fun and sassy onesies on Etsy. I got my DD a bag there with a Shakespearean quote from a Midsummer Night's Dream "though she be but small, she be fierce!" It had been a particularly rough month when I ordered it, but it still holds true.

I can say, from experience, you may want to buy 3 months clothes. DD was born at 9.5 pounds. None of her newborn stuff fit for more than 2 weeks. Her 0-3 month stuff she was out of in less than 6 weeks. I know some people were disappointed we didn't get much use out of their gifts.

They grow so darn fast!

Congratulations! Here are a few of my favorite baby items. I have used all these and they are top on my baby shower list. Tea Collection & Mini Boden have great clothing but I would stick with simple onesies and sleepers for the first few months. Hanna Anderson makes great soft organic sleepers. I have found them at Costco for good prices. I preferred sleepers with zippers instead of snaps. Most newborn sleepers have snaps, I image so you don't zip skin. I found the snaps hard on a squirming baby, DH wouldn't even use them. Zippers are easier, you just stick a few fingers between baby and zipper. Have fun! I can't wait to be a grandma, you get to have all the fun.

I just wanted to second Thistle's recommendations of buying a larger size for a couple reasons. One - many babies outgrow the newborn stuff amazingly fast and second - sometimes you get lots of newborn clothes as gifts but nothing bigger. It's nice, as a parent, to have the larger sizes as well.

I bought DD a sleep sack from Nordies and it was one of my favorite purchases ever. I'm not sure but I think it's the one made by swaddle designs. I though it was a little spendy when I bought it but it ended up being one of my most used items and I have very fond memories of cuddling her in that cozy sack!

Congratulations Joy! As a first time parent I tried to avoid anything too complicated (buttons up the back??) or stiff (jeans??). For boys one pieces with a snap crotch or full zip or onesie top and leggings combo. I loved sleepsacks and gowns for ease of dressing.
There are lots of great suggestions here for good brands. Along with Tea, Hanna, Zutano and Boden (all mentioned previously) I also loved gorgeous organic clothes from:

Most new parents will be given tons of newborn stuff. Buying from Nordstrom means you can return it if he needs different sizes. I was told my kids would be huge (8+lbs) and they were not (6 lb 11 oz) so we had to scramble for some NB stuff for the first month. Items that can span seasons are best since you don't know how they will grow just yet.

I found that the size 0 (Australian size, worn from 6 months) was a great size to get. My kids stayed that size for about a year, much longer than the preceding sizes, and they were of an age where they weren't wrapped up any more and were crawling and could wear clothes more like real clothes. Denim overalls are very handy!
