Any leads on lightweight twill pants?

I amended my 2013 shopping list to include uniform needs for July - some bright or printed shorts and a pair of black, light weight twill chinos, possibly cropped or ankle length.
I tried these from Old Navy and they did now wow me in the least. They did not narrow on my leg nearly like the pic and were just kinda boxy in general. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....cale=en_US

I bought these Joe Fresh brand 'slim' pants earlier in the spring and like them quite a bit:

Thing is, I don't know that I'd call them "lighweight" exactly. If you have a JC Penney store nearby, might be worth going in person to try them on/investigate the material. I bought a pair in ink blue as well as the black.

I won't be wearing them when it's over 100+ degrees out, but they work for me when it's between 65F and 85F. Depends on your summer climate.

Meanwhile, I do like the shape of these, and the price can't be beat, imo.

Thanks - no stores nearby so it's all online for me. I need lightweight mostly to run around work, up and down stairs. No a/c at the job, so mobility and breathability/comfort are key.

My go-to cropped pant is the J Crew Cafe Capri--a bit pricier than ON, but comes in a variety of colors, nice fabric, and a slim cut. And they hold up to repeated laundering quite well.

Ok - without A/C - I wouldn't go for the Joe Fresh slim fit pants - to me, they seem like are a heavier cotton. I just checked the label - and they are 97% cotton with 3% spandex. I think the reason they look more crisp than the usual twill-type pants is because it's thicker cotton or something?

Thx Gaylene . . . looking at your link I guess chinos are more what I'm talking about. The Scout looks promising, except they don't have black, darn!

I've got a pair of navy Scout chinos that are still going strong after a couple of years, but the fabric is a bit heavier. J Crew should be bringing out darker colors in their styles in a few weeks as they gear up towards Fall. There is a darker color Scout chino in their sales section
