Any interest in SF Bay Area get-together/swap?

I recall there had been talk about an SF Bay Area get together over the summer. Are people still interested? I'd love to meet some more YLFers in person, and maybe do some clothes swapping too!

I'll be home periodically over the next few months and would love to meet up! I am from the San Jose area. I know that I'll be home the first two weeks of September and I believe the first week of October.

I too would need advance notice as the calendar is already filling up. (That's crazy!) But I would SO be into it. I don't know if I have much to swap any more since I've been trying to sort out my stuff pretty ruthlessly. But I wouldn't need to swap to have fun. It would just be so great to meet folks.

I'm in San Jose too, and I just got done with all my summer traveling so I'd totally be up for a meet up! I'd have to rummage to find things that are swap worthy, though I know I haven't worn 80% of my closet lately for various reasons....but I'd love to meet some of you in real life!

Hm, I have no idea what people have done in other areas to organize a swap/get-together! I suppose we could make a Yahoo! Group for it, or do the planning here.

We might want to meet in a central location, depending on where everyone is located. Somewhere like Burlingame on the Peninsula, or somewhere (Hayward? San Leandro?) in the East Bay.

Anyone else? We can just do a get-together/shopping trip, if people don't want to go through the bother of swapping. Or perhaps we could preswap -- post photos of stuff you want to swap, people could select before the get-together, and then try on/pick up the clothes at the get-together.

I probably couldn't participate in a clothing swap because I'm larger than all of you, but I have accessories and such. Or just a get-together/shopping trip sounds good too. Just keep us posted!

since i work a little late, weekends are best for me, preferably saturdays after 4pm or anytime sunday.

the weekend AFTER labor day would be ideal, but this weekend is fine too.

i live in the san jose area (downtown), and am open to commute (though not sure about anything 45+ minutes!)

MariannaCecile, i'm totally up for an accessories swap, as well as clothing/shoes! any kind of get together would be great, as long as you don't mind have a party pooper student-budget-girl around

hope we can make something work out!

I'm up for something on the weekend, either this one or the next. And anywhere within a 30ish min drive from San Jose would be great!

I agree with the 'any kind of get together' since I'm not at all sure that I have anything swap worthy, but I'd love to come meet some of you beautiful ladies in person! =)

p.s. If we do decide to do a swap, I kinda like cciele's idea of a pre-swap...that way we wouldn't have to bring stuff that no one's interested in, no?

Ok, let's decide a weekend! The weekend after Labor Day works better for me too. MariannaCecile, will you be around then? I can do that Saturday before 5 (although I know that doesn't work for you cyan45) or any time on Sunday.

If people are interested in a preswap, I can set up a Yahoo! Group or Google Spreadsheet and we can list our items there.

Cyan45 -- student budget over here too. Recent grad budget, even, which is even worse!

Santana Row might be fun if we don't do a swap. We don't even have to buy food because it can be expensive there -- they have a nice French coffee shop with yummy pastries. And they have really nice shops which would be fun to browse through. Or if anyone is willing to come to downtown Los Gatos, that is a GREAT little area for shopping and food.

Anyway, I am up for anything as I have nothing going on for two weeks. I can commute a little too

Hm, MariannaCecile -- if you are leaving the 14, would the 13 be a pain to meet? Maybe we should do it on the 6 instead. What do people think?

The 13th wouldn't be a pain. I suppose the 6th would be better for me, but if that doesn't work for others I don't mind the 13th.

sunday the 6th or 13th both work. 13th is ideal, but whatever fits with everyone else is fine.

btw, i LOVE the open-market experience of santana row and los gatos. if anyone needs to do any valley fair/westfield shopping (across the street from santana row), is that an option, or too much trouble?

don't mean to complicate things...we can always save that for next time ;-D

I could go for Santana Row or Los Gatos, either one. Unless someone from the San Francisco area wants to attend -- that might be a hike. Speak up if you're out there and are interested!

The 13th is perfect for me too (i just found out i might be meeting the bf's mom for the first time during labor day weekend *cue butterflies in tummy*) =)

Santana Row is closer to me and its proximity to Valley Fair might be a plus if we decided to include that in our day, but I'd prefer Los Gatos simply cuz I've never been there and I'm tired of Santana Row. Just my $0.02....though I'm fine with whichever way the vote goes...

Guess I should start saving up some money... =)

Los Gatos might be a good compromise because the area has a mix of upscale and more mainstream stores (Gap, Banana Republic). There are a lot of really nice unique boutiques too. Also, great food options. If this sounds good, I'd be happy to plan where we meet, etc, as I am in Los Gatos a lot and know some great places!

Should we continue writing in this thread or ask Angie to connect us via email or what works best?
