Any inside skinny on this store I didn't know?

Century21? I always knew it as a real estate company, here in MD. But I caught it mentioned on a fashion blog, and come to find out, there's a chain in the NYC area, right? I just nabbed several pairs of crew socks from the clearance area (kind of to try the store out but also b/c I am a fan of slightly quirky, warm socks for winter).

I notice they had a LOT of performance wear, which was names I know at what seem very intriguing prices (I'm entirely stocked up for running and workout wear right now, or I'd have leapt). And they have designer events, and quite a number of designer names I know. A good deal of DKNY bras and undies, as well as a few others. Tempting.

Anyone know their B&M stores, and are their labor policies and so on cool?

It's really fab, kind of like the old Filene's basement in Boston. Sometimes very high end stuff for great prices. You have to like treasure hunting though, and it can get way crowded. But I have seen obscure designers I've never seen elsewhere there.

Century 21 is a mini chain located in NYC. It is legendary for carrying good merchandise at slashed prices, including many European and high-end labels. I personally found far more high-end labels there than I ever did at Philene's, the Rack, etc: Marni, Jil Sander, Helmut Lang, D&G, etc. etc. I went there religiously when I lived in NYC. Like Diana said, you have to hunt, and the shopping gods must be with you, but you can find really amazing things. You could find a really amazing designer sweater for less than you'd pay at the Gap for cotton.

I have no idea as to their labor polices. They don't have their own label.

There's one a few blocks from me here in NYC. As others have said, you can find amazing designer merchandise here if you are willing to look. Everything is discounted so you can save a lot of money if you're lucky. I try to make myself stop in once a week, but usually I don't buy anything.

I love that sort of store, but will have to be satisfied with shopping online mostly. I used to love Filene's in Boston! DC had a few stores similar and I haunted 'em when I worked near the shopping district. I have either completely lost touch with that or they've mostly been swallowed up by national chains now.

Just came home tonight and found my Century21 order had arrived. Like a little Christmas, that's how I feel every time I get a package in the mail!

The items looked just like I hoped they would (I mostly ended up getting pantyhose and socks). Actually, I take it back, the open knit ivory sweater is nicer than I hoped it would be!

Another nice touch - there was a free gift enclosed. I think it's all sample men's fragrances, so I have entrusted that to my DH. Way to make the spouse/significant other happy about deliveries, huh?

As it happens, the hose are arriving fortuitously, I may wear them to a funeral on Saturday. My brother-in-law's Dad died yesterday. He was a totally nice guy, we'll miss him.
