Fun thread, so nice to read so many happy fashion stories

I'm also trying hard not to buy everything this season, I don't think I've ever had a S/S shopping season with so many appealing options. I've been having an especially good shoe season -- it's tough trying not to blow all my budget on all of the refined, low-heeled, pointy pumps out there! I'm also happy that I've been bringing in more flats.

I am happy that my wardrobe is starting to better reflect my size, though that's a slow ongoing replacement project.

I am VERY happy that I was able to replenish my jeans with not one, not two, but three very well fitting jeans (!!!). Flares, faded and distressed long BFs, and faded blue skinnies. I'm set for a good while there.

And I am happy that I've finally gotten myself to purchase for my casual-bordering-on-gear weekend needs which I had been neglecting for far too long. I can't wait until more of it arrives so I can start using it.

How about you, Anna?

There are so many longer lengths out there, it's fabulous! I have the same problem as Diana, and I have to slap my little paws away from all the fabulous stuff out there this year!

My recent goodies...

Ok how's this! Rick Owens somehow heard that I am an impoverished community worker who just adores his clothes and he gifted me with a brand new wardrobe full of his Lilies range. Woops, sorry that was a dream I had !!

I think my happy fashion story is that I have really honed what I like and what works and I am really no longer tempted or distracted by items that don't fit my criteria. Im feeling much more focussed:)

OOOh, fun! I've finally found several lightweight sweaters. This has been a huge whole for me for years. I also found a blazer today that may actually be comfortable enough to wear voluntarily. I buy blazers because they look good, but I don't wear them unless it's required for an event because I am miserably uncomfortable in layers. Also...biggest deal for me...all of my pants have been hemmed to PPL for flats, the only shoes I can wear now.

Great thread! After several years of not finding any dresses I liked, I now have several that I adore and feel ready for just about any occasion.

My blush Danier moto jacket arrived today. It fits like a dream, was bought on sale, and fills a wardrobe wish I've had for awhile. And it's cool enough this week weather-wise to wear it.

Nice thread!

I was able to get some nice sweaters (albeit winter weight) from Anthropologie on sale. Almost 100% cotton, which I despair of finding most of the time...hardly was able to buy anything last winter. And they're so distinctive! I love Anthro.

I'm also doing a wardrobe purge, which is fun, because I get to look back over the last year and see how much I've grown in understanding my style. I feel pretty confident about the items that I want to purge. I'm going to consign them and see if I can make a few bucks.

I'm also excited because I am working on getting my shoes the way I want them. I'm trying to ditch any shoes that aren't comfy, or at least rehabilitate them with some insoles. If they don't work, they're gone! I have just a couple of shoes that I want to add to my collection, and then I think I will feel like I have the assortment that I want for putting together a variety of outfits.

Also, I am gaining weight, which is great! (I lost a lot of weight due to illness.) I have graduated from a 00P in pants to a 2P at a few retailers...so my options should be increasing across all retailers in general. Unfortunately, my top half remains 00P, and that's where I have the biggest problem finding stuff that fits. But I now have enough stuff in my wardrobe to tide me over until I find the PPP tops I really want.

I've dropped some weight in recent months and the bra situation was getting catastrophic -- so I headed to Nordstrom Rack to stock up during the sale over the weekend. Came home with a perfect-fit studded leather moto vest and a pair of tweedy oxfords (the former is something I have long idly wanted; I've had my eye out for Oxfords all year, but tough to find a pair that suited my fussy, gigantic feet). AND a nice selection of new bras! I am very pleased.

This white sweater I'm wearing. That's going well for me! WIW to come!

PS. I don't wear white!

Actually I wasn't specifically looking for shopping successes. Any fashion victory. Like you wore your favorite blouse and felt fabulous. Or a random stranger gave you a compliment on the street.

I got a very nice compliment from one of the women in my apartment building. I was heading out to church on Sunday (the one day out of the week when I really dress up and actually put on makeup), and she stopped me and said, "Muy bonita! MUY bonita!" I speak no Spanish but could figure out that she was complimenting me on looking very pretty. That really made my day!

I wore my Mo $ Mo wine tee today to buy some Sauvignon Blanc. Got a knowing nod. I responded 'truth in advertising'.

One of my professors complimented me on my tweedy-oxford-containing outfit over the weekend. And I felt rad in my new bras. I didn't realise just how bad they were! (And, indeed, how bad they likely were when they were new. The new ones are way smaller in the band and bigger in the cup than I've ever worn and they look So. Much. Better.)

I always feel like a country bumpkin at nordies but today I got two compliments on my blue Naots and one on my "harem" pants. I usually feel kind if invisible there. They were comments by customers--stylishly dressed ones too!

I feel more confident in -giving- compliments to people on the street that look fabulous. I got a few surprised looks! I have never been comfortable giving compliments when I look schluppy because I don't want people to think - what does she know?

I have more than enough great shoes that I can walk in! A 20 year old cashier made me promise to give her my new sunglasses if I get sick of them.

I've got a ton!

I've had great shoe luck recently! I adore my Birks and am ecstatic to see the style is now passing as stylish, just in time for my trip to the UK & France. And I got a great super comfy pair of black and grey snakeskin sandals at the Walking Company for very very reasonable. Then, after a ton of searching, I found not one but two phenomenal pairs of booties for my trip that got Angie's total seal of approval. One was $125 less than the other. And I'm pretty sure that Angie laughed when she emailed me that ABSOLUTELY I should keep the less expensive one.

Also, I really have the concept of a capsule nailed and can't believe how much easier and more efficient it makes my packing.

Plus, I found not one, but two great waterproof rain coats at the Columbia Outlet this weekend for less that $75 total.

Total awesomeness. (Improved only by the fact that I just had a delicious glass of red wine. Cheers to you, Anna!)

I am loving 6pm.com and have ordered several items in the last few months , but best find had to be my two pairs of Birki's on a one day special for just $26!!!!!
Just ordered DH some shirts and can't wait to puch him outside his comfort zone!!!! So lucky he humors me!

I am another one who is above her ideal weight right now. and I must say this season of loose and Chloe tops is saving me big time. my clothes are made saviors these days and help me to feel fab day in and day out even though I know I am not at my best mentally, physically, or emotionally.

I'm happy, thanks to YLF, that my closet is in good shape and I don't really need anything that I can tell yet. I'd hoped to come to this place and hope that I can be disciplined enough to intelligently replace with fewer, better, more perfect-for-me pieces. With all the wonderful goodies out there this season, it is hard to take it slowly.

I've had several happy fashion stories this season. I love my white loafers, my silver Birks, and my new Ted Baker tee especially much! And after three years at YLF I feel like my closet is in pretty darned good shape for almost any occasion!

I am adoring my delicate necklaces that I got in Ireland last August. Even though I was looking for statement jewellery there is just something that makes my heart sing with the tiny, delicate stuff. These are particularly special as it was our 30th anniversary trip.
My son also recently bought me a pair of earrings for mother's day. While I would not have been attracted to this style his reasoning behind it just makes me glow and I love their style now too. He says they are a trinity knot (our family emblem...not really from our crest but one we chose) and they remind him of chainmail. They are his personal support and protection from whatever stresses come my way.

Like everyone else, I'm loving spring and summer styles. I don't need to purchase that much, but I love my $19 green Old Navy chinos (Thanks Angie!) and my grey V neck tee. I finally found silver Birkenstocks at Bloomingdale's and they should arrive today. I've had Birkenstocks in the past so I am really looking forward to wearing them again.

The perfect Acne leather jacket I've been stalking for months just went on sale today and I snapped up the last one in my size (or rather +2 sizes for the perfect oversized look). It's still a huge purchase and I'm not sure I'll keep it, but I'm glad I checked my email before it sold out!

I'm just happy wearing my S/S wardrobe. Everything fits and is comfortable. All of my shoes are comfortable. I feel presentable anywhere I need to go, and that's a good feeling.

Well, I have way too many clothes...working in retail makes that happen, if you don't have discipline. (Which I don't!). Plus, I lost about ten pounds over the past year, not that I really needed to, but things fit me differently and I did have to replace some pants. So? I have discovered I like to wear a sweater or a knit as a top piece to an outfit, rather than a jacket. I have finally adjusted my eye to shorter skirts...but I still won't go sans hose! I have bought a few cardis is that I love, and I don't wear them as twinsets. I layer over a shirt or tank, and sometimes belt. I've rediscovered some of my costume jewelry, brooches and chokers, and they add some individuality to my classic wardrobe. I try to think of new ways to combine the things I have...I could probably go the rest of my life without buying anything else except for undies and shoes! I love fashion and love new looks but not always for me.

I had a fun fashion moment while grocery shopping! I was closely examining some chocolate bars (one of my four basic food groups, along with wine, coffee, and cheese) when a voice piped up behind me: "I love your Flys!" I turned around and the woman pointed to my feet. "Those are so cool!" I was wearing them with a tee and denim shorts.
