Any colour combo tips?

Hi guys,
The last few weeks I have discovered a colour combo that I really like- a pink/magenta ish piece of clothing with turquoise jewelry. I just love the way those two colours vibrate together. I also like navy with a pop of red. Just wondered if anyone else has discovered any winning combos they love. Maybe we can create a resource of sorts for ourselves.....

What a great idea Jussie! Have you got any visuals of your new favourite colour combos?

Personally, I am now into pink or blush combined with red. Also just purchased an olive and teal scarf with rose gold - exploring that combo at the moment.

Katerina: the red and blush worked really well in your Cos outfit. I’m intrigued by olive and teal with rose gold.... and would love to see a pic. Coz teal to me is almost a forrest green but I’m not sure if that’s the same as other people’s definition. Below is a pic of the turquoise and magenta combo I mean. I only use it in small doses though!

Magenta and turquoise are beautiful together! I like bright colors and jewel tones, therefore I was surprised a few years ago when I felt suddenly attracted by White & Cream. I find this combination fresh and chic.

I have a soft spot for turquoise and tomato red. It’s not easy for me to wear on a large scale, but necklaces together and earrings on a neutral outfit is just right.

JUSSIE- I have a silk scarf that is the fuschia- turquoise combo that is beautiful. You can sort of see it in my profile picture lower left. Great pairing job on your part. Let me know when you want to borrow it
I just recently bought a raspberry colored blazer on clearance and paired it with a navy dress. Then I realized I had a scarf with teal, raspberry white and navy....yay!
Great post to get us to think about pairings and experimenting. Thanks

Sisi: white and cream does sound very fresh. Neutral combos can be very beautiful when done right.
Chrism: yes! I also love tomato and turquoise. I only have one particular outfit with that, it’s a tomato silk shell, worn with a turquoise necklace. I must say it’s gets a lot of compliments.
Efbgen: I see the scarf! Yep that’s exactly what I mean. So SWEET. Also I like your idea of using a scarf to tie together the colours of the other parts of an outfit. I should use that more....

Purple and green. It occurs in nature (lilacs, lavender, irises, violets, and many other purple flowers have green leaves), and I actually love seeing it in an outfit. Also? Red & purple together is wonderful, too.

I love to look at a tropical pink with a citrus orange together too. It just feels so summery to me. Same for a nice red and light blue together.

Sage or avocado greens with turquoise is a good one to my eyes.

Not a new idea here, but navy blue and black is one of my all time favorite color combinations.

This is a great idea. I love looking at the Ensembles' colour combinations. I wear olive almost daily so anything that incorporates that colour works for me. Copper (Rust), Olive, Cream and Denim or Citron, Olive, Cream (I don't have Blush) and Denim are two that I wore recently.

Cindysmith: thanks- those are some great ideas. I really like the pic you provided of pink and orange together.... I had totally forgotten about that combination. So summery I love it. I also like pale blue with bright red- to my eyes it just WORKS!. And it’s unexpected too.

Rachylou: pastels with earth tones sounds fascinating and I have never tried it. Very creative. I will have to search up some pics of it so I can get a better grasp of it.
Stylefan: thanks- what good suggestions. I like the sound of citron, olive and cream paired with denim. I never would have thought of that!

A few of my favorite combos: citron and turquoise, black and navy (has to be the right navy, possibly called French navy), orange and teal, pink and red.

I saw one these this morning, a Calliope hummingbird. (This is not my photo. ) The magenta and green are beautiful together.

Jaileen that’s a fab combo. Cute birdie. I just want to add another combo I saw today that jogged my memory; emerald green paired with leopard print. It just always looks fab to me.

1. Light lemon yellow with sky blue and neutral grey to ground it.
2. Turquoise (light) and olive
3. Watermelon reds with bright blush or light pinks
4. Light blues with crimson reds
5. Navy with grey (not really colors)
6. Fuschia and turquoise
7. Lavender and peach
8. Mint green, olive and blush
9. Any tonal combination of several similar colors and one tiny item of a contrasting color added for fun.
10. Dark teal, olive and turquoise plus a bit of fuschia

My list may be endless. Play with a color wheel, or live with an artist.......
DD once showed me how the color combinations that looked best on me were lower in color contrast than those that worked for her. For example, purple and orange look fabulous on DD. Even though I love the look of those colors together they look awful on me, but I can wear each separately with jeans. Red and pink work better for me because they are closer together on the color wheel. When I try Lavender and peach, it works only a bit better than their richer more intense cousins mentioned above. The contrast is still problematic but the lighter tone helps temper the look enough to make it passable. My message is that if you really love a combination, there may be a way to make it work for you skin tone.

I'm just not bold enough to do more than one color at a time. I prefer a more minimalist look, although I think multiple colors looks amazing on other ladies! My most unexpected color combo is navy and black. I find it really chic, as long as the navy is bright enough that it doesn't look like you got dressed in the dark.
