Today he was wagging his tail and had good appetite but his labs came back worse (I am crying). I will have to learn to put subcutaneous fluids on him.

Oh, Joyce. It’s sooo hard and awful. The gift of an appetite and wagging tail gives you strength. You give your little guy strength and hope too.

Oh Joyce, I am so sorry. Isn’t he such a trouper getting excited for his food. I just love how dogs get so much pleasure from the simplest things. Sending you and your beautiful dog a virtual hug. xxx

Joyce, how are you and your little buddy doing today?

Hope you're getting some good news on the pup. Mine almost died of liver failure a few years ago, and after heavy nursing and special diet is still pootling around at 13.

(He gave himself pancreatitis once, too, by eating crap he found in the street and would not drop.)

Angie, we may be close to the end of the journey (crying). We go to nephro specialist this pm. Thanks for caring.

UmmLila, your little guy is very lucky, blessings to you both.

Joyce, where there is life there is hope. Both of you hang in there. Much love. xo

Thinking about you and hoping the nephrologist can help your pup.

Joyce, I hope the nephrologist is able to help. You can totally do the subcue fluids. My sister did that with her dog and I did it for a guinea pig a million years ago. Those guinea pigs have tough skin.

Joyce, how did it go at the nephrologist?

Yesterday the nephrologist gave him a feeding tube to let his tongue heal from painful lesions that developed and made eating very difficult. He also switched his subcutaneous fluids and meds. He thinks Simba had an acute kidney injury and a background mild renal failure.
He had the tube placed yesterday.
Now I am nursing him hopefully back to good health, with tube feedings and subcutaneous fluids.
Thank you Angie and all for your support.

What a handsome boy! It can be so stressful looking after our little buddies. Thanks for the update.

Joyce, best of luck with Simba. We’ll all be thinking about him.

Oh, Joyce. What a sweet and precious boy Simba is. He's so lucky to have your enormous care and love - which he has given to you all these years. Beautifully reciprocal, and heart warming. Much love and hang in there. I get how stressful this is. xo
