Anthropologie Shoe with European Sizing...Ugh!

Okay, I fell in love with this shoe today! So did Marley, but we're both 7-1/2 and the shoe only comes in 37 (7 US) and 38 (8 US). What would you do?

Ugh! They felt good with the 38s and I'm concerned the 37s would be too short. What would you do? I feel I may want to try them, but want to get the size right on the first go round. As a 7-1/2, what would you do?

Both Marley and I consider this an avant-garde shoe that would dress up any outfit. As you can see, we're both "in love." Your thoughts, please.

ETA: I ordered size 38 and have a question in case they need slight adjustment. In case they are a little big, I think I've seen something about putting a piece in the toe box. What do you use or have you used, in the past, to make adjustments?

On this particular shoe, since it's a cutout style, nothing could be placed on the heel or the sole of the shoes. That's why I'm focused on the toe/ball of the foot area. Thanks for your help! FYI, It was a bit odd that when I returned to the store they had only a 37, and it fit well, but the toes were "right there" and not in a painful way, so having the 38s to compare, will be good. I grabbed a few more compliments on them as I was walking around the Anthropologie dressing room, which is good feedback.

I usually wear a 7.5 in heels, and in Euro sizing I go with a 38. I can see why you two fell for these beauties, I am now officially considering them, too!

Cool shoe! I'd size up to 38. I'm a 6.5 or 7 US (usually 7) and wear a 37 European.

In this particular case, I'd try the 38's. I take either a 38 (Ecco brand) or a 39 (Dansko) and half of my non-Euro-sized shoes are 7.5 and the other half are size 8's. It's important to note that Ecco's shoe sizing seems different than other Euro brands, in that their size 38 is supposed to be a 7.5 whereas other Euro brands, the 38 is usually a size 8.

Never mind...if I'm a true 7.5 and have a choice between a Euro 7 and a Euro 8 (38), I'd be going for the 38's.

Go for the 38's to be on the safe side.

I'd go with 38. I'm an 8.5 US and usually go with a size 39 EU.

I find Euro sizing depends on the brand. I'm a US size 7 and I normally wear a 38 in European sizing (at least in the brands I buy). But I often accommodate for my orthaheel insoles. So I'd say size up. If it's too big, you can always pad it

I agree with going with a 38. Additionally, provided the shoe isn't a full size too big (which would be unlikely if you are normally a 7.5), it is easier to make a slightly large shoe work (with a toe pad and a hell grip) than a too small one.

I run true to size in US-Euro conversions (size 5 US, size 35 European) BUT I've noticed that average-to-larger sizes often have to size up for a true fit. So I would round up to the 38.

Can I also say, as someone who routinely buys shoes a half-size too big for convenience/price/availability--it's very doable! And much easier to fix with insoles than a half-size too small.

absolutely do the larger size! I did the mistake the other way last year ordering a us 8.5 that was too small. I should have gotten a 9. They were unusable.

bTW. Most size charts put my size EU 40 as a US 10...but I have never worn a US 10 so I don't trust the charts much.

Yup, go for 38 -- I'm a 7.5 and 38s usually fit me very well.

I think that the fact the shoe has a closed heel makes it really secure, in terms of not popping out if it's a little big.

I usually wear a 6 or 6.5, and I almost always take a 37. It felt a little weird in the beginning, but now I quite enjoy the extra space. I often wear an extra sole made of wool in my boots to take up the extra space and keep me warm in winter. However, there are also nice inexpensive lightly cushioned leather sole inserts for warmer weather. Often just a small one in the toe box does the trick. So much better than having shoes too small.

I'd go up the size: 38. I have found the European made/sized shoes to run a little smaller in general (mostly narrow) anyway. If they are at all big, as others have mentioned, an insert usually does the trick and makes for a more comfortable shoe as a bonus.
