Hi all

I got the anthro skirt that Angie recommended.

It’s lined and the fabric is quite substantial. A good weight for Spring or Autumn. It may run a tad small. It is more flared than I expected from the lower hip to hem. Although I am not a lover of flared skirts generally (a little too girlish for me), I feel like it suits my (pear) shape and the colours and graphic pattern (which I love) make it less girlie.

It also makes a very satisfying swish.

In short, I like it!

That looks pefect on you and I think the graphic nature keeps the shape from skewing girlie. Love the black and white with the lighter boots.

I’m coming back to this because I am a little curious about this skirt. The model photos seem to show a much more prominent horizontal stripe portion that extends almost all the way across the model’s hips, which is why I ruled it out. But yours seems to have a seam with the vertically striped portion that breaks that line and seems more flattering.

Now, I know I am like four sizes larger than you so scaling the skirt up may mean the stripe pattern will be no bueno on me, but I’m curious to know whether you have the skirt shifted around a bit or whether the stock photos just don’t represent it well?

Wow, thanks everyone! Graphic asymmetry FTW! I don’t do international orders very often. It’s always a bit of a relief when they work out. We are expecting some cooler days this week so I might be able to get away with wearing it sooner than I thought

Angie, you sure can pick ‘em. It’s a great find.

Janet, I think the way I am standing (especially in the first pic) makes the vertical section look more prominent. While the way the model is standing makes it look less so. Here is a photo of the skirt laid flat. The vertical sections comes about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way across the front. Why not give it a try and see

I think it's great and agree that b/c of the pattern and asymmetry, it doesn't look girly. A great piece to add a bit of diversity to your fab wardrobe!

Oh, thank you, Brooklyn, that helps. But it sounds like it's not really a warm-weather piece? I really only end up wearing skirts in the summer, but a really good one would maybe help me break out of that habit. I like that this one is not girly and is more graphic and a bit sporty. Seems like it would dress down well.

Janet, yes because it’s poly, and reasonably thick (a little bit like the fabric that is used to make gym tights), I don’t see it as a summer skirt. But my summers are hot and sticky of course. I can visualise it for Spring or Autumn with boots or dressed down with sneakers and tee like the model. Because of the sporty fabric, it doesn’t feel precious, which for me helps to make it suitable for casual wear. I am trying to wear skirts more casually too.

It looks fantastic! I know what you mean about the flared skirts being girlie, but I think you’re right about the pattern making it less so. Also, it’s pretty straight. Love it on you and think it suits you perfectly!
