Another Zara kimono jacket....

OK, I have no resistance lately. The kimono jacket look really resonates with me..so much so that I had to give one of the Zara options a try. I already have a kimono-- bought last year from Anthropologie--but this dark blue Zara option (the one Suz tried a few days ago) is longer and has more of a dramatic look.

#1- jacket with straight leg denim/white tee
#2 - jacket with straight leg denim/cream silk tank
#3 - back view (love!)
#4 - jacket with a black sheath dress
#5 - the Anthro kimono I already own

DH raised an eyebrow last night (when I threw it on quickly...not styled) for him. He thought it had a little 'bathrobe' look to it. I like the fullness of the sleeves, though, and it has a neat little gather at the back that keeps it from feeling too full and bathrobe like.

Thoughts? This feels like my stye.

This IS your style! It looks fantastic. And looking at you I had an epiphany too - that this is not MY style, and I can still admire it on you. You and others make them look so good I feel like jumping in - but at the same time, I can see from your pics exactly why I should not do that. Hope that doesn't sound odd?

I think it looks beautiful on you! I hope you keep it. I tried the lilac one from Zara and it was so horrible on me it's going right back with no photos. But this drapey style looks excellent on you.

Suz, I'm actually not that much taller than you (maybe an inch? maybe even less!), but maybe my arms are a tad longer. (I'm hoping you're keeping your kimono, too).

Una, I know exactly what you mean. I love it when something clicks like that. I actually felt that way about Ceit's more jacket-shaped kimono. It was SO perfect for her style, but it wouldn't quite work for mine.

Ceit, thanks! I also tried on the green print one that Cocolion has, but didn't post photos either. I looked swamped by the material, while this one fit better because of the gathering. When you find the right one, you know!

OK, I will be the downer. I like the Zara kimono on you, but I don't love it. The Anthro version is way better. And is this the kind of thing you really need two of? How often would you wear the Zara jacket, and is there anything you'd wear it with that you couldn't wear the old one with?

Nancy, I feel sure you are at least two inches taller than I am. I am only (barely) 5'4". And I have short arms, yes. Alas....

CF, in defence of Nancy owning two of these, I can see it as a sort of signature item for her. And it's quite different from the Anthro one (I suspect) because of the fabrication. This one is silk and feels quite luxe. Can be dressed up or down.

I say that as someone who is not keeping the one I ordered!

CF, I can see why you'd question the practicality of two kimonos.....but I do feel this is a signature look for me (as Suz said). And I do feel the two kimonos have different vibes/shapes and work differently. The Anthro kimono doesn't look nearly as good over the black dress, for example.

Suz, I am just barely over 5'4"....maybe it's my long arms and legs that gives the illusion of height. I'm always surprised that most people think I'm closer to 5'6". But I assure you, it's an illusion.

Looks really right on you. I am one of the folks who also thought you are about 6 feet tall. Your frame can take the flowy length and it looks great.

I love this on you! I am laughing a little because I have ordered the same one and am waiting for it (I had no idea the Zara kimonos were A Thing until I had already set my heart on having this blue silk one for weeks) so it makes me enjoy seeing how well it looks in action. The proportions are excellent on you and I think it's an entirely different vibe to the Anthro one, even if they are ostensibly the same concept.
