Another question, this time about watches

When my dad passed, we gave most of his watch collection to my boy cousins. It makes me so happy to see them wearing my father's treasured classic watches. My mom kept his Omega Seamaster. I'm thinking about wearing it. Do you think it can be modernized with a more feminine band, possibly a metal one (#1), or should I stick with my MK (#2)? I know it would make my dad happy to know that I was wearing something real. Your honest unsentimental opinions are most highly valued and appreciated. I still want a killer look, but my judgement is totally obscured by this beautiful, classic, vintage family heirloom. No hard feelings either way!

You definately need to use your Dads watch, it looks great and I love the sentimentality of it. For the record my best friend wears a mans watch and my Ice watch is a unisex one x

Sentiment free: It doesn't look dated with the leather band, to my (admittedly not very trendy) eye at least. I think the large face makes it look modern on your wrist.

I would wear it as is.
i am a big fan of watches and that one is a true classic.
Fossil had watches resembling that one last year.

I should have mentioned that I can't wear the watch as is. The band is too large for me. It is sized for a man and it doesn't get any smaller. I would need to replace the band to wear it and I think a stretch metal band would look more modern. I'm glad to see that it's getting some love, not just from a sentimental vintage lover like me.

Maybe you can try with a leather and a metal one and see what you like best.
this is just my personal opinion but i would wear it with a leather one to keep the vintage feeling of it.

I really like the watch face. I think a leather band to replace the current way it looks might turn out best. A watch that tells a story is always 'trendy' in a vintage way that no one else can have. It will totally go with your style!

I love and and totally think you should wear it! I can see it working equally well with a leather or metal band. If you already have another metal band watch, going with leather for this one might give you a nice change of pace.

love the watch and the leather band. maybe you could have a shoe repair shop put an extra hole in the band so it would fit you? or use an ice pick and a hammer to diy.

Journey, the band doesn't fit, it is not a matter of adding another hole. It is simply too wide to make any smaller. It is a man's watch with a man's size band.

You can absolutely wear that. I think either a leather band or a metal band would be nice.

I love your dad's watch. I would wear it as is, not changing a thing, even if it fits big. I actually wear my watches loose on purpose. The picture looks as if you can get away with it.

Since you have to change the band: A metal band would be modern, but I imagine it would be tricky to find a match and it would be a fairly similar look to the MK watch. I would stick with leather so that you can change up the look.

The face on this watch is classic and vintage all rolled into one. It will always look stylish. Although a metal band might make it more modern, I think a leather band would suit the face more and keep that vintage feel/look to the watch. It's a beautiful piece Rita - wear it with love and pride.

I voted yay, Not only does the watch have sentimental value but it is beautiful in its simplicity. I think the size is nice too. I even like it with the band that is alread on it.

I'm not sure how to vote on the poll because I like your dad's watch with a leather band. That way you have styling options. You could also go a little preppy for spring/summer and find one of those canvas(?) striped bands.

What a nice tribute to your Dad and his style; I say wear it as is, with needed adjustments, and I also like the leather band version, when you want to change it up for a season.

New leather band will match the style of watch better than metal plus much easier for watch jeweler to do. You could change color of band at that point.
It's a beauty and you should mix it in with your current watch and wear proudly. I have a feeling it will make you smile when you see it on.

I think men's vintage watches are much easier for women to wear than the current trend in mens watches - the new thing is Huge faces and the vintage looked better on women imho.

I agree that it is lovely and you should wear it! Getting a bad in the same style that fits your wrist shouldn't be too hard to find. Maybe a vintage band?

You simply must keep Dad's watch. It's a timeless piece. I'd swap out the brown band for a white leather one for a fun remix on the watch. I always adore white and gold paired together.

Wear it with pride. The face is a great size on your wrist. I'd check the mm size on the band and get leather in a fun shade (lots of good suggestions already). The closeness with your dad is the best part.
