another purge contender - the khaki skirt K/P

Another borderline short skirt I am debating. This is ironically one of the first full price items I bought at 35 (Tommy Hilfiger), using gift money of course lol.
I now have a black cargo skirt, and two army green (one cord for the cold, one cotton for warm weather).
Is it time to kiss the khaki goodbye or is it a great closet standard I can get another summer's use from? I'm not bothered currently wearing this length, but I wouldn't go any shorter. I'll be 43 when it gets warm enough to wear, if that matters.

I think it's cute and a lighter neutral than your other skirts. It seems like it would be versatile. If you get partway through the summer and you haven't worn it, then I would purge. I wouldn't purge now unless you really don't see yourself wearing it again. The length is fine by me, but I don't have a problem with shorter skirts (on me or others).

Well I don't find it too short, you have great legs, and it's only a couple inches above knee. I would say keep if you like it and wear it.

It's such a nice summer basic, and your other skirts don't duplicate this color. Unless you have a new skirt in mind, I'd hang onto it at least until you've had a few months of weather where you COULD wear it, and see if you do.

wise ladies - I always get tripped up with out of season purging. Yes, wear it for a bit first or see if you don't end up wearing it as the season progresses. So smart. Will do! thanks

I agree to try wearing it first. Try it with your voluminous/boxy/drapy tops rather than a fitted jacket, maybe?

I'm pretty sensitive to being age-appropriate, Mo, but I think this skirt is just fine for you. It does not look too short or too young for you at all.

But perhaps you are just tired of it and want to make room for something new?
I agree with the others- keep it for the summer and see if you actually wear it before making a decision!

Like Susie I am sensitive about age appropriate but honestly haven't really figured it out so probably not a good person to comment on that part of it. However I think it looks great on you and I would hang on to it and see if you wear it!

Keep for another year but remove the buttons to make it a bit more minimal and updated. It is very flattering on you and I do not think this length is age-inappropriate. We live in California and I feel the need to point out that in this state, we dress younger and more casual than other places and IT"S OK NOT TACKY. Perhaps the same goes for FL? And probably NV.

I am 44 and if I had your legs, I'd be living in that skirt. It suits you very well, goes with taupe and white, can be quite useful. I understand you might feel tired of looking at it, why don't you fold it away in storage and come back to it later?

Umm, I think this one can go, it is actually borderline dated, to my eye. Mo. I think you have your skirts needs covered and MUCH more fab things to keep you company! i vote purge.

And yes, I think the length is good for where you live FL/CA.

I don't know, Mo, your legs are so fantastic that I'd give it a shot for awhile longer and see if you end up wearing it this year. I don't see anything that looks inappropriate, and I'm usually pretty sensitive to that.

You have killer legs and that skirt shows them beautifully...I think you'd get more use from it it you follow CocoLion's suggestion of gettng rid of the buttons. Not a fan of them, either. I think that would give it new life

Hmmm, interesting . . . they are actually turn locks, like you would see on a purse, you know? I think that hardware, and the seaming that doesn't show in the photo, are what drew me to it in the first place. A basic khaki skirt would have been total yawnville to me back then, and even now lol.
I will think on it and give this summer it's trial he he. It did occur to me sort of after the fact that I could use this as uniform for the golf course job (no denim, but khakis and black are fine) and even my pub job in summer.

I live in Virginia, which is pretty conservative, and women our age definitely wear skirts this short - usually with a gauzy top and flat sandals or cowboy boots. If you're worried about the length, you might feel better in flat shoes.

I think short skirts can work at any age, provided that (i) the styling is right, and (ii) you have the legs for it (which you do)!

I haven't read the other comments but this skirt doesn't wow me -- it looks kind of blah to my eye. I think some of your more recent pieces are much better -- the length is fine but it just isn't a standout.

I haven't been keeping up with where you want to head style wise & I'm not good at what's in & what's not but from a figure flattery perspective you can definitely wear shorter skirts

No problem with the length but the style looks a little dated (in the sense that I see it around here all the time in summer, and we are like a fashion time warp). My rule of thumb: if it's current in AK, it's out of date everywhere else.

I like the idea to keep it and see if you are weraing it once the season progresses. Too often my worst closet purging was during the off season. My purges are usually more spot on when I do them about halfway into the season.

No time to read all the responses, but I like this skirt on you. It's perfect for summer and would work for winter too. My favorite way to wear this type of skirt in the winter is with brown tights and brown boots.
