Another purchase while returning

I returned the taupe boots that I purchased earlier this week deciding that although I loved the colour and they were very comfortable the look wasn't quite what I was after. My pickiness has taken on a life of its own, resulting in more returns than imaginable. When returning I brought these 2 home to try out- let me know your thoughts. It might be that I need the petty ankle boot but that might take some finding from Canada. I have looked for a retailer but haven't yet found one.

The black boots are very 2013 to my eye, and the brown a good casual basic.
Depends on your other boots and outfit requirements, I guess.

the only place I have found is Amazon.com Glory...I keep debating on ordering the Pettys from there.

Thanks Ladies. I will try them out and see if they stay. Ceit - If I knew my size and that they duty would be reasonble I would order them in a heartbeat. I think those are the ones I truly want. But, the stress of the duty and possible returns....

Glory, the fist boot here looks the same as a boot I bought last year. Mine is more of a sand colour. They are great boots and look vp really good with pants. They are quite sleek and I think would work with skirts potentially as well. The black boot here I also like and this look with the detail Oman the heel/back of the boot is definitely trending big time but I'm wondering how long it's going to be around. I don't have the Petty booties but I cannot get past how fabulous theyvlook on everyone. They are simple and sleek and by all reports very comfortable.

Hi Deborah - thanks for your insight on this. The first ones are a sand colour just as you describe. I am going to try them with some outfits that I normally wear and see what I think. I am a WAHM so they may not be that versatile. The picture looks darker brown than they are IRL. I agree on the black ones having a limited life span and they are under review for that reason. Also I have black frye veroncas and altho these dont duplicate my fryes would get less love.
I agree on the petty booties - wish they had them here in Canada. I am lusting over the praline ones.

I just caved and ordered the Pettys from Amazon after looking for a Canadian substitute for months. The total including duty came to around $130 (Amazon charges you duty up-front and refunds if the actual charge is lower). I'm nervous about sizing.

Both so nice, and so different! I like them both, but if I had to pick, I would go with black. For some reason I don't have any lace up boots, they feel fairly sporty to me.
Long Tall Sally carries a lot of Sam Edelman, but usually starting at size 10. Shoeme.ca, town shoes, browns, might be good bets. Eluxe.ca carries some Sam Edelman too, can't recall if they had the petty.

I agree with Nicole that a lace-up bootie feels a bit sporty. Those are nice looking. A bit like modernized desert boots. They would work with pants and casual skirts and would be a near-nude for you, like the Report bootie is for me.

I like the black ones, too, but wonder whether you would rather wait until fall for a dark bootie? You will soon be wearing sandals and these might not suit your preferences come fall.

Sizing on the Petty, FWIW -- I think they are on the long side. But they are also on the slightly narrow side. I take the smaller of my two sizes (I am a 6.5 or a 7 in shoes/ boots as a rule or a Euro 37.) I got the 6.5 in the Pettys and they are somewhat long for me but just wide enough for my average width foot.

Uh oh. I might be in trouble with the Pettys. The reviews I read mostly seemed to say they were roomy, so I went with an 8, which is my true size. But my feet are wide. *scared face*

Can I just throw in that I love Euro shoe sizing! They seem to be on the half size compared to American sizes, such that a 41 fits like a 10.5 (which almost always fits my left foot, righty is a true 10). In general that is. Don't worry, Ariadne, I think you will be OK. I find SE usually on roomy side (like I can wear their 10 pretty reliably).
