Another Hairstyle Question

I'm going to be having my hair redone in a couple of weeks, whilst I love the curls I do get bored easily and I'm considering a change.

My question to you is should I opt for a shorter curly look similar to this

Or make piece with my hair straighteners and opt for something more like this

I think it depends on how much time you are willing to spend on your hair in the morning? I personally can't be bothered to straighten every day and frequently wash it and leave it to dry x

It would probably just need the front section straightening Louise, I've had a similar style in the past.

You are soo cute!!! I love both styles. What would the second one look like curly? I think you need a style that can go either way. I know the weather in your parts and at rains so many times during a perfectly sunny day. Straight all day hardly had a chance. My hair was so confused in Edinburgh!

Yes Jean, most hair is confused in Edinburgh and curly definitely helps to beat the frizz. That's a very good point and one I should have already considered.

Both styles are very pretty, so I'd probably pick the style that is the easiest to style and maintain. I have to straighten my hair everyday and that eats up a lot of time in the morning.

Julie- do you trust your stylist enough to jsut say "I want a cut that I can wear both straight or curly?" I loved your last haircut- has it been easy to care for and style?

They look like almost the same style- one is just straight and the other is curly. Can't your hairdresser cut your hair so that you can wear it either way? You should absolutely have it cut to work with your natural curl, since at some point there will come a time that you have to leave the house without having time to straighten it.

I'm of the opinion that one should ALWAYS opt to keep their hair in a style that works with the natural texture. It's a shame for your whole cut to be spoiled just because you have to run out the door or don't feel like running an iron through it. That said, it's fun to have variety. I think you should go for a cut that looks good curly and straight if possible. The two cuts aren't that different in length so I wonder if your stylist can do a hybrid of sorts.

Hi Julie,
I know from your last cut that have learned to love your curls, because that was adorable on you:)
You may want to change it up a bit by bringing the length a couple inches below your jaw ....When it is dry..(.remember curly hair shrinks 1 to 3 inches) add some layers and some texturizing on top...this should be easy to straighten as well...If you plan to alternate between curly and straight be sure to keep the ends(perimeter) blunt, as opposed to overly layered:) That will only make the ends look thin.

Okay, it looks like I have a plan. Thank you so much everyone, especially Taylor. I will take both pics to my stylist and see what he suggests, he's Ben's best friend forever so I trust him with a lot more than my hair Queenie LOL.

I'm going to try and make the appointment for the next couple of weeks. I'm ready for my couple of hours break reading Vogue.

I'm also curly/wavy haired and I vote for keeping the curl. It's fun to straighten once in a while, but if you're lucky enough to have natural curl make the most of it!

I have naturally curly hair, but it takes LONGER for me to do the whole deva curl (the only way I can get pretty curls) regime than it does to style it straight. I can take my hair from fresh out of the shower to completely styled in 15 minutes. I like the look better and it's less time time and product than trying to perfect my curls.

I haven't styled my hair curly much lately, but here's when it was longer and left natural with no help from a curling iron.

I got my hair cut last week into more of a blunt bob, and I have to use a flat iron to get that sleek bobbed look. It is still a layered bob, so it looks good if I let it do it's naturally curly/flippy thing. I'll say that I've been wearing it curly more than straight, because it's just so much easier...but it's nice to have the option of going straight if I want to.

Sounds like you have a plan! Have fun, and I have no doubts that you will look gorgeous!
