Another Gift Question

My other MIL (my husband's parents are remarried so I have two MIL's) is very hard to buy for. She is in her 50's owns her own computer company, is very smart and knows a lot about everything. Buying ANYTHING for her is like trying to buy a pot for a chef or or a paintbrush for an artist. I've been racking my brain trying to think of something she would love. Then I remembered her complimenting me on one of my pendants--and I started looking for a similar pendant to give her.

I came across this at AT. Has anyone seen this in person?

Ugh, I just remembered she wears yellow gold. I don't know if she'd wear a silver necklace with her gold wedding ring. I know I would, but she's a little more old school and may not like to mix metals.

Can you just switch out the chain, or is that too much trouble? I haven't seen it in person but it looks pretty.

The color of the pendant would look good on her. She has light red hair and fair skin and blue eyes.

Maya, I couldn't swap out the chain because the pendant has a silver frame around the stone.

I'm looking at Etsy now, but that place is so big it's overwhelming--and I'm not sure if I'd even get it in time for Christmas....

That's very pretty and neutral, so she could wear it with many things. I think it's a good, solid choice.

Question (knowing that this is a difficult-to-buy-for situation and thinking ahead to worst-case scenario): Can she return it? Does Overstock.com allow that?

Nicole - I saw the first one today (from Ann Taylor.) I have to say I didn't love it in person.

I wear a lot of costume jewelry and I have pieces from AT that I really like, but for some reason that particular one didn't thrill me. It was much larger than I had expected from the picture, and it looked slightly cheap. (I was disappointed because I've been looking for a green stone to go with my eyes.)

Of course, that's only my opinion, but I think your second choice looks much more promising!
