Those are pretty! The green one is quite reminiscent of the blue plaid from Kate Hewko that Suz and I recently bought.

I just adore this first one. What a smart way to take it or of 90s territory and make our a bit older and more sophisticated by the neutral colour palette and adding a suiting element. Though I don't have a tulle skirt, I will be using this trick with a velvety skirt I just thrifted for holiday season...

Love how the equestrian vibes tempers the exuberance of the tulle. Janet’s rendition is a perfect example - the hardware of the jacket repeated in the boots, the definition of the waist, and the exposed forearms and lower legs - all balancing out the patterned tulle. FUNtastic look!

Oh, and I am not really what you’d call “thin” (this is a size L skirt and my waist is stubbornly hanging on at 30ish inches) so I think this is more wearable than many of us expect, depending on styling. The jacket in this photo is doing a lot of work adding structure and shape! Seriously if you love the look, I would try it — I was so convinced it wouldn’t work for me that I didn’t even give it a fair try-on at first.

I don’t think this is a look you have to be thin to wear (I don’t think there are any, but that’s a topic for another day). I’ve seen women in Berlin and Boston wearing all-black outfits (or nearly—one in Berlin had some black & red Buffalo plaid up top) that included tulle skirts. I won’t guess at numbers, because I’m terrible at it and because it upsets some people, but I will tell you they were happily wearing their tulle fashion, and are not what anyone would call thin. The tulle layers are big & floofy and body-hiding anyway. So if you want to wear it, do it!

You're very right SF that it is very much a personal body-confidence thing, not a cut off size at which a person of X weight or Y height cannot carry a look. I don't feel flattered or happy with anything that adds extra bulk to my bulkiest areas. Instead, I look to play up my narrower areas, as that feels more flattering to me. I know there are beautiful women of all sizes out there rocking a whole spectrum of incredible looks.

Anyone can and should wear whatever they want . No one needs to be thin or not thin in order to wear anything . I was talking about myself only and what I feel looks best on my body . I don’t find things that emphasize my perennially 7 mos pregnant belly particularly flattering , comfortable , or happiness- inducing . All the power to those who are free from these burdens !
