In the store (found these locally and on sale), I thought these would be almost my HEWI, or maybe semi-HEWI, but trying them at home they gap at the back more than I thought, shown on one foot (my R and is R in the photo). On the L is my laced-up wedge bootie.
There is something about some of the Born styles that tends to fit or support my foot, which is why I think I keep trying them. These are sporty, but a bit less Western in the smooth black than in the distressed taupe. The chunky rubber heel is very stable, and so going more sporty gives me that heel, whereas some of the more refined styles, which would be better for skirts, tend to have more tapered heels (or higher).
Before I toss in the towel I want to try them with pants, to see if I would be tempted to use them for a pants-shootie and toss my other Born, which is more rounded toe, but then I'd have to decide if it's worth it, and if I'm ever going to wear them with skirts. I don't think there's room for an insert or that it'd bring my heel back.
So, they still have some flower--pot effect but a bit less since are more of a shootie than bootie.
Thoughts? Too gappy? Too cowboy? Pants-shoe but not dress-shoe?
