Another candidate for the dye?

I managed to snap these up second hand helping a friend purging clothes and other stuff. I first didn't think they would fit, but they do (although they sure are snug). This feels strange after wearing baggy/slouchy pants all the time... The hems are folded inwards in the pics because they are too long for me, they would need shortening. Thing is I rather like the wash in the front, but I hate the look from behind. The shorts I dyed came out great, so I'm wondering whether I shouldn't dye these too.

What do you think, is it worth a try? Dark navy again? Or maybe I should go for black, I don't have any black pants at the moment.

(Please excuse the frizzy mess on my head, it's been raining all day today and I was outside for some time.)

I think they look terrific! You look so svelte! Definitely dye if you don't like this wash. I'm partial to blue but black works too. I wonder if that fades less well though over repeated washings.

Thanks Kelly. I've lost 15 lbs since the beginning of the year, so all my pants are too big... I think blue might be the safer bet.

I'd rather see them as navy blue than black, but if you need good black jeans

then I vote black.

I have a skirt I’d like to see in different colour, now you got me inspired to give it a go.Where do you buy dye? I’d rather not order online but prefer checking the available shades in the store.

Thanks Ornella! Not sure if I 'need' black jeans, but besides the pink skinnies all of the ones I have are blue. And I do have some blue dark wash bootcut jeans that are just slightly big. The dye I used is Simplicol. You get it in all bigger drugstores, the basic colors at least. And buy the dye called 'Echtfarbe'. It's more expensive, but I've heard it's better than the cheaper dye that's also available.

One pack is more or less for dyeing one pair of jeans to the darkest color on the color chart, although those are based on white fabric to start with. If you're fabric is colored you can only guess how it will turn out. I always followed the instructions exactly and dyed the stuff in the washing machine. Wash once (without softener), add the 'Echtfix' stuff (part of the dye pack) and the 'Färbesalz' (you buy that additionally). Add dye as instructed. I always did another wash directly after that (so three all in all) and the clothing didn't bleed after that.

Ohhh they look so good! If you're bored with blue jeans, what about a grey? I guess it'd have to be pretty dark to even out the wash though, so it might end up looking black anyway!
