I just bought a ponte moto jacket that has sleeve zipper pulls that are most annoying. I’ve been thinking about ways to make them less annoying, and thought I’d ask here to see if any other fabbers have found good ways of dealing with this. (Macys finds are not working so I made a custom find)
I wore it last night to a dinner event. No photos – was in a rush . I tried a quick hand sewing job but the stitching came out on one sleeve and sure enough on that sleeve the zipper pull was flapping around, clacking on the table when I was eating and writing notes, generally being most annoying. I'm very happy with the jacket otherwise.
The hand sewing trick was to attach the zipper pull to the zipper teeth to make it not flap around. I could do a better job and this would be a good solution, but it would make it impossible to open up the zipper and fold the sleeves up. Maybe I can live this that.
The other possibility is to remove the longer part of the zipper pull and leave just the very small piece, so I’d have something to grab onto if I wanted to open the zipper. I’d need to find some tiny tools to cut it
off without damaging anything and am not sure even DH’s extensive tool
collection has anything like that.
Maybe I could cut it off entirely and find a substitute on Etsy made of soft leather so it would flap around a little but be silent. I did a quick search and found nothing small enough. (Still have the issue of finding the right tools to do this)
Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!!
