Rosie, I don't think yellow trench is fall-appropriate, not for Seattle at least. It also has to be water-resistant and lined and all that good stuff. I am sort of considering investing in a classic Burberry one (which won't be part of the sale I am sure), but it just seems like too much of a commitment... hmm.

Marianne - I do agree...I just don't have fall here so it's hard to get in that mindset!! I bought a great, expensive trench on sale right after Christmas this year with gorgeous detailing and a removable cozy liner that I can actually wear as a hooded long puffer. I think if you get a Burberry (and that is the style you love) you will have it for a very long time and will get lots of wear out of it. It is an investment and a commitment, so think hard about whether you really love the trench, or whether there might be something you love more. I don't know whether they really work well in your weather or not. Angie probably does!

I guess San Diego would be a different story, and a brighter color would work. You probably won't care about the water-resistance factor. Your trench sounds great, and it makes me wonder if I should wait till after-Christmas sales... might be a good idea!

Rosebud, do you have warm weather all year?

Joy, I love the sound of your list. I’m excited! Yes, tailored shirts layered over camis in interesting ways are still fashionable. They can look great.

Dani, I answered your boot question on another thread. As far as Autumn items go, you have plenty of time to decide. You have another 4 months before it gets cold, right? We have 2! So we’ll start your list off slowly.

There will be Burberry trenches on sale tomorrow. There are every anniversary sale season. Whether that’s your look is a different story. If it is – go for it. They are beautiful. I’d have put my late mother is one. It’s not my style but I absolutely appreciate the look on someone else.

Angie, I guess I haven't been paying attention I have been considering Burberry trenches for years, but somehow never acted on it. It always seemed a very safe choice... maybe too safe. Anyway, food for thought.

Angie, not all year. We get some cold and rain, but I think it's all relative. There are really only a few weeks when coats are necessary. I think I get colder in my office than outside!

I have a long wish list this year since I am essentially redoing my wardrobe.

Jeans: I am looking for a skinny/straight pairs, at least 3 (black, dark blue and gray)
Boots: slouchy ankle boots, boots to tuck in my jeans and dressy skirt boots if I can find them
Trench: I need a nice trench for fall, dark color like black or charcoal.
tops: these are really hard for me right now, my goal is to find 2 tops to wear over jeans
Bags: I always check out the bags i need a nice tote for work
I also need tights, undertease camis and bras. But I'll mostly focus on jeans and boots tomorrow.
Angie, I am planning to be at the downtown nordies tomorrow am, maybe I'll see you there

I am late to join here, but nevertheless here's my list:

I can not go to the Nordies store ( out of city, no car) so I am limited to the online and I have to say I'm quite disappointed.

1. Super dark skinnies (like J brand 14")
2. Fitted brown leather jacket
3. Cashmere sweaterdress
4. Purple cashmere sweater
5. Black LS tie neck blouse
6. Black or purple LS shirtdress for skinnies
7. Long boyfriend cardigans in black/grey/purple, at least 31" and ideally 33" long
8.Theory charcoal pants, Max C or Emery cut
9.Grey patent wedges
10. A new pair of Cole Haan shoes with Nike Air Sole

Unfortunately, nothing on this list is available online and I'll have to look for these throughout the season.

Hopefully everyone else is having much better luck!
