Ana and I went to the NAS together and it was so much fun I wanted to start our own thread. I got there about 9am and Ana got there a little later. We decided that people in Austin just like to sleep in because the store was actually really nice crowd-wise at this point-- almost like shopping on a regular weekday. This made it really nice for me even though I was still a bit hyped up. By the time I left-- about 11:45 the store was a bit crazier but still manageable. We were in shoes last and didn't have to wait long at all. I didn't really come with a list although I was trying to focus on tops.

I'm not sure I'll keep the skirt yet, but I will try to post pics soon. I was also tempted to buy the same blouse in a green micro print pattern which they don't have online.

in green or eggplant. I'm just not sure how I'd work the either color into my fall wardrobe.

I also tried on a couple of collared, high tie neck blouses but I'm just not ready for this look style-wise. I'm guessing I'm done with the leather jacket being the prize but I'm sure I'll enjoy browsing over the next two weeks.

I posted this in another thread, but I thought I would post it here too since I went shopping with Patience at the sale.

Things do look different than online. It was nice to see things up close and try them on. We did have a lot of the items in our store that are online, but not all of them (our store is a bit smaller).

I went to the sale thinking I might get a sweater or a watch, and I did find some sweaters that were cute (one teal colored sweater jacket in particular), but I went with a chunky white and gold Micheal Kors watch instead:

You can't tell from the photo, but the inner circle on the face is actually a light mother of pearl, and the outer circle is frosted white, so the gold numbers really stand out. After reading Angie's white summer watch post, and then her post about wearing a watch instead of using a cellphone, I decided I wanted to get a great watch for everyday wear. I am still on the lookout for a more refined cream watch to wear when the weather gets cooler, but that is a long way off so I can wait.

There was a moment of agonized decision making, because I tried these on as well, and they were SO CUTE:

They fit my calf perfectly, so they would definitely be skirt boots. I probably wouldn't wear them until the end of October though, so I decided to get the watch instead and wait until I get my next allowance, which will be near the end of the sale. If they are still left, then it was meant to be. If not, then hopefully they will stock them again later and I will pay full price.

Patience got some really awesome stuff! She looked good in so many of the things she tried on, but there were 2 or 3 things that she put on and came out of the dressing room and both of just said, "Wow, this is fab, you have to get it," including the Kenna-T motorcycle jacket (of which she got the last one in the store!).

I hope she posts photos soon because she looks better in the items she picked out than even the models online do. And by the way, Patience can rock a pair of heels like no one I've met!

Ana, get those black slingback booties! Love them for you! They will work with your wardrobe and climate, possibly better than the boots. I commented on how gorgeous you new watch is on another thread

Oh girls, what great finds. Patience, I LOVE the skirt and bet it looks great on you. Post pictures before you make a final decision! The soft vintage bag is really beautiful, as are the Michael Kors pumps. Tempations, tempations... I'd get those pumps if you can wear heels. They look so classy and I bet you'll wear and love them for years.
Ana, I'm with Angie, those slingback booties are super. SO interesting, and on the other hand so versatile. Gosh, and those silver Steve Madden ones are amazing - too sad that so many fab shoes have high heels!
Sounds like you two had a great time, and that the store was less crazy than the ones in Seattle. Yay!

Patience, the jacket is so incredibly cool, I would have already snapped it up too if it came in brown ( I already have a black one). The blouse is so pretty and the skirt very nice, it probably fits you very well. And I also got the Me Too oxfords in grey!

Ana, that watch is perfect! I really envy you on it ( my cheap white one broke after one week). And I agree that those booties would work great for you.

So, I went back to Nordstrom today to try on the Nanette Lepore booties (yesterday I had just ogled them and left some drool on them). When I first put them on, they felt tight, but I figure they would stretch a bit. I gave them my test though--walking around on a hard surface (I do a lot of walking on tile and concrete all day every day), and after 3 minutes, the balls of my feet were screaming. The heels are just too high. 2 1/2" chunky heels really are my limit. :'( I'm so disappointed! There was a moment when I thought, "Well, they're so beautiful, maybe I could just wear them on days when I'm mostly sitting...." but then I thought, "Yeah right, when is that ever going to happen?" I'd just end up with $300 shoes that I never wore. Did any of you all try them on? Did you have the same issue? My feet are pretty fussy, especially the balls of my feet.

I did try on the Franco Sarto booties that I had been eying and Angie ended up getting. They were very comfortable, so they might be an alternative. I want some booties that will look good with skirts/dresses and tights.

Thanks Tanya! I'm so sorry your watch broke! It seems like white is still in for early fall, so you might have the opportunity to pick another one up.

I am sorry to hear that about the booties Ana! But if they are really that painful than it's good you've passed them up! The Franco Sarto ones might work, Angie mentioned that they are very comfy. I've been eying those myself!

Oh, I second the double take on the Me Too frost pump. I did a quick walk through of Nordie's with my husband yesterday to see the items in person (It was quite an experience for him.), and those oxford pumps were adorable. It's not usually a brand that I'm particularly drawn to, but I'm considering getting them in burgundy, depending on what dress slacks I end up getting.

Sorry the NL’s were painful, Ana. 2 1/2 inches is my heel limit too. Thanks for the validation on the FS booties. I popped them on again this morning with insoles and they are HEAVENLY. You shall love yours too. Try them Tanya.

That's funny, Ana, I also went back to Nordstrom on Sat. but very briefly. I went to move my purchases to a MOD card but I stopped in the shoe department as well. I tried the Me Too Frost and the FS bootie. I actually didn't find either that comfortable. I think my foot is sensitive to stiff materials over the top of the foot and I've never had any luck with FS unfortunately. Then I tried

and I'm doubly tempted (for the stormy cosmos color which they didn't have in store). I thought they would be too high but they are just right. They pressed on my big toe a bit but the salesman suggest stretching them. I'm going to think long and hard about this one.

I took pictures of the things I bought and I'm working on getting them uploaded now.

Angie, Ana and I were wondering that exact thing about white watches in winter when we were looking at Ana's watch in the store. Good to know.

PS I've often wished heels could be hemmed too.

I'm intrigued. I wonder if you didn’t try on the other FS bootie styles, Patience. There were 3 anniversary styles to choose from. Only one style had the comfy “stretchy upper”. The other had a zip-front upper in leather, and the last was a slip-on sans zip or stretch.

It’s hard for me to imagine the stretchy-upper as uncomfortable. I am the queen of being unable to wear stiff fabric on my foot. The shoes you’ve linked too are absolutely beautiful. That’s what I would find “hard” on top on my foot. Does that make sense?

Photo time! I wear my glasses on Sundays and decided to leave them on for the whole naughty secretary look. Skirt and blouse:

Trying the skirt on again at home, I found it is really snug through the upper thighs. The question is, to keep the skirt or not? This is definitely the kind of skirt I am looking for to wear with knee high boots. And I love pleats in skirts. (Naughty secretary and naughty school girl).

Angie, concerning the booties. I tried on the right ones. The stretchy part is just fine (very nice in fact)-- it's the croc part that I found stiff. While I do higher heeled pumps, I still require very flexible soles and leather with give, especially around my toes. I also wasn't crazy about the look on me although I thought they were great on the table. My experience with FS is very stiff soles and leather. But I haven't tried too many styles. The SW oxfords were actually much less stiff to my foot even though they look stiff. Like I said I still had trouble with the big toe which is my most sensitive part but I think that was a matter of room rather than the leather itself.

I think the skirt looks great on you, pencil skirts do need to fit quite snug, don't they, but Angie will probably give us her opinion soon.
That ruffled blouse is yum, I already said that I want that jacket for myself (although a dark brown would probably be better for me), and know I need those boots as well!! I love the heels!

Thanks everyone. I am definitely leaning towards keeping the skirt, but I'll probably try it on a few more times. I have I bit of time before I wear it anyway. Hubby did approve. Ideally for him, I'd spend as little money as possible on clothing, but he had a little grin that gave me the true story. And he took silly pictures of himself while I was changing.

Speaking of hubby, after I went to the sale on Fri. I sent him an email telling him to go if he got the chance. (He really needs new shoes and new leather jacket.) He came home with a belt and some shoes, along with the comment that he has never owned such an expensive pair of shoes. I am very happy with his choices. I'm bummed that I can't find either online to link to but he does have good taste.

Hey, sorry, I missed this post!

I just wanted to say that everything looks even better on her in person than in the photos! The motorcycle is tailored nicely.

I definitely vote for keeping the skirt--you it fits you really well, and you have a backside made for pencil skirts! Have you had a chance to play around with it and see what you think? Have you tried belting your AF blouse over the top of it?
