Ankle pants and the petite woman

The black workhorse pants I used every day for the office no longer fit and everywhere I go the stores are full of ankle pants. I'm 5'3 and ankle pants are ALMOST normal length on me but not quite, and finding trousers that fit has been an exercise in frustration. Is it really worth the hassle of trying to find "real" pants or do I just make do?

Why not try ankle pants for a change? It will update your look.

If they are almost long enough check to see how much hem allowance there is at the bottom. Most dress pants can be lengthened easily by letting out some of the hem allowance, which might make them regular length on you. Stores like Nordstrom, BR, J crew, etc can usually even do it for you (for a small fee) if you ask.

Try ankle pants - but hem them to the right length and wear them with complementary footwear.

I am the same 5'3" and wear ankle pants and hem them to the right lenght and it works super.

right -I too am 5'3" and ankle pants work best. I shortened a pair to crops, and now wish I didn't as they ride up when I sit and are too short for weaing with higher shaft booties now.; For warmer weather they will be fine with regular shoes and sandals or lower ankle booties.

If the ankle pants that are almost long enough are jeans, just pick the hem loose, dampen and press flat, leaving the edge raw. Voila! Trendy (and longer) jeans. Or hack them off at what would be ankle length for you.
