I know the video you have linked. I (luckily(?)) am somewhat allergic to angora so I never have bought anything with angora in it.

I know the video too. Like Ceit, I also have an angora sensitivity so I avoid buying clothing or yarn with it anyway.

Yeah, my mum sent that to me also. I couldn't even watch it, but I know I won't be purchasing any clothing from manufacturers that support this kind of thing.

Me, too! In fact I just ruled out a sweater that I liked (on another forum member) because it includes angora and I just can't wear it! Now I have another reason to avoid it.

Thanks for this. I didn't watch the video--I can't stand watching that kind of thing--but I did google some search terms and came up with a news article. It looks like quite a few North American brands are ceasing production of anything with angora because of this.

This makes me want to cry. How can anyone be so heartless?

I could not watch more than one second of it. I am allergic to Angora and have never bought it. Thank God.

By the way, it IS possible to get responsibly sourced angora, at least in yarn form. I knew someone as a child who owned angora rabbits (as pets) and would spin yarn from the fur they shed. I think she sheared them once a year as well; they lived in CA and it was too hot for them in the summer! Anyway, you want to look for small, local producers for yarn at least. Here you'd find them at fiber fairs, some farmers markets, fancy local yarn stores, etc. Some of those vendors might even sell handmade garments.
