(I don't know how I added a yay or nay to this post, but it was an accident. I'm keeping both blouses but feel free to yay or nay as you will....)

Hi everyone! I happened to hit on two of the shirts Angie has put in top picks. J Crew blouses are often hard to fit on me because they tend to be more straighter figures than mine, which means they are usually too tight around the hips unless I can get a petite size. Anyway, I thought these pictures on a real, non-model person might be helpful.

FWIF - I always have to size up one numerical size. for there to be even a prayer of JC's shirts and popovers fitting me. This was the case here for both.

1. Angie picked this in green. I got it in blue since I have a kind of nautical Yankee shadow style in the summer. She says it's better on a straighter figure, which is probably true, but I was surprised to find it worked on me - probably since it's oversized. I did happen to wear it semi-tucked on this day, but it doesn't need to be tucked.

2. I love this scarf print, and am thinking I may wear it to the memorial service of my husband's grandmother this fall (depending what we're told to wear), since she loved this kind of stuff. Angie was dead right that it is a surprisingly good fit in a curvier figure. I have a short torso and am curvy, which is at least half the reason I don't wear more button downs. I haven't worn this out yet, but I look forward to cooler weather.

Note - the white jeans are also J Crew; they arrived with the blouse. Too tight in the tummy, alas, so I can't keep them. I am trying to replace a pair that's gotten a weird, large pink dye (or dye-like stain) on the back pocket. I have been trying to fix them with Oxiclean but the first application only had minimal effect. I don't even know how I got the stain in that area--something I sat in on the subway, like spilled juice!
