Lately I've thought quite a lot about striking the right balance of visual interest in my outfits. I might do a longer post on that another time, but my general conclusion is that I want to play around with at least two visually interesting components in my outfits (so pattern mixing, two bold colors, volume and print, etc.). But I still feel like a fashion novice, so the thought of doing this without looking like a fashion clown is a bit intimidating. Angie to the rescue, of course. I am in love with her travel capsule! She has worn high-impact color and prints but still l looks so polished and approachable. I have some ideas of how to challenge myself in the coming weeks, but for now I will shamelessly copy our fearless leader.
Denim Jacket: Thrifted from the GAP. I have not owned a denim jacket in recent years. I always feel like a midwestern girl when I wear them (possibly because i was/am). I decided it wouldn't hurt to try this inexpensive option and I'm realizing that mixed with the right pieces a denim jacket can work for me. I also like the idea of finding a "gritty" mixed media piece like Angie's jacket.
Tuleh woven silk skirt: I LOVE wearing this skirt!
Striped crop top: JCP - no retail stone unturned, people!
Black pointy flats: Cole Haan
Lilac Bag: Perlina from the Rack
Apart from the top, all of these piece are getting heavy use this summer. Go team wear! Also, I'm starting to think lilac is a neutral.
All feedback welcome! Thoughts on adjusting the proportions? Shorter top, longer skirt? I probably won't make any changes, but good to know for future shopping.
