I seem to remember that you were both looking for Winter skirts.
I just found this houndstooth pencil skirt at White House Black Market, it's cream/black and a classic style that you could definitely spice up.

I really like that skirt too, Inge. The wool content frightens me a bit (and probably rules it out for Antje).

Very nice! Inge, you're right, it's totally "me". I do have a houndstooth winter skirt but it's quite old and might be outdated; also possibly a tad long. I plan to post a picture of it asking for advice (our camera went down a waterfall during summer vacation so I haven't been able to take any pics... I really need to replace it). This one is very tempting!

Nicole, I actually do wear wool skirts if they are fully lined (and I always wear hose or tights underneath.) I even wear wool coats - life would be very hard if I didn't - and occasionally an indoor jacket if it's lined. I draw a very clear line when it comes to sweaters; they can't have any wool/cashmere/angora etc. content.

Strange, I only saw Angie's reply when I replied myself.

And I was wondering about that yes: if it would be possible for you both to wear a wool skirt if it's lined and with hose underneath.

Antje: I immediately thought of you when I discovered the skirt (also because you were looking for a houndstooth vest, so I figured it would appeal to you)

Nicole: are you worried about how it will hold up after washing, or are you afraid it will itch? (I think the lining would help with that).

If anybody ends up buying it, I'd love to see a picture here!-)

Oh Angie, did you have to point this out... Seriously, I do have one houndstooth skirt from AT that's many years old, and you actually gently suggested that it might be time to pass it on last year (but I didn't, since I kinda like it, though it might be a tad long; I shall post pics at some point.)
The other one is not houndstooth but herringbone and it's A-line with one pleat in the front. It's cute, but I'd really love a true pencil skirt, which is my favorite shape. I'm on the fence whether I should give in to that or not If I do, I can safely pass on the old AT one. Deal?

That’s right, the other one is herringbone. My mix-up. A hounds tooth pencil skirt SHOULD be on your list – it’s a very Antje style and I see no unnecessary duplication! Deal?

Thanks Tanya! Do you mean the D&G skirt? I love the look of that skirt. It’s fabulous. But I will NEVER support D&G in any shape or form. They are exceedingly cruel to animals and I have that information virtually first hand. My sister in–law interviewed Mr. Dolce in Milan and it’s right from the horse’s mouth.

I'd like a grey plaid skirt that wraps around and has the fringe going vertically on the side. *I don't remember what that style is called...anyway, when I was in Jr. High they used to have faux pins, like a kilt, but I don't want the pin. I'd like to be just above my knee. I am not alergic to woll, but it is itchy...so It'd have to be lined, or an acrylic.

(I don't think so Ana. It's just D&G that we need to banish from our wardrobes forever. They are out of my budget too, but you can get items on sale at hectically reduced prices and their menswear is ever better. But ZERO support from our side for sure.)

Nicole, you’re thinking of “a kilt”. I encourage Spiegel purchases, but their return process is really slow.

I just saw a D&G dress on sale online at Bergdorf Goodman's that was on great sale (in my budget) and just my style, but I didn't even consider buying it. Thanks for the heads up Angie.

I did find some other really great summer dresses on sale that I think I will get, though, hee hee. Next summer I'm living in dresses!

Oh I thought a "kilt" was just for men. Anyway, after looking at plaid skirts, I decided I'm not cut out for one. I wouldn't mind finding a kilt in a solid wool or flannel though. So long as I don't have to learn to play the bagpipes (though my husband would love that--he LOVES bagpipe music.)

THanks for the great pointers to the Dillards and Spiegel skirts. I have the feeling that there'll be quite a lot of styles to pick from this fall, so I'll probably go to the mall (where I can also try on the WHBM one) rather than rely on online ordering. I order online quite a bit for tops and occasionally for skirts and dresses but my preference is to try bottoms -especially pants but also skirts- in person.
What I'd find really cool is to find a houndstooth skirt in a very big pattern rather than the typical small-ish one. I don't know what it would do for my figure, though.
