In Angie's “shopping your closet” blog post today, I mentioned that I have some golden oldies in my holding zone that I haven’t worn in years but don’t have the heart to toss because they are 1) in great shape and quality items, 2) fit well with flattering colors, and 3) are either classic enough or unusual enough that they defy trend.

I think this very old Lafayette 148 shirt qualifies. I have great memories of wearing it over 10 years ago, but my life was different then — less casual, for one. I adore the print and I never see prints like this anymore. The fabric is so nice. And it fits and is classic in style. I moved away from this silhouette as pants rises got lower and tops got longer and looser, but now the pendulum is swinging back.

I should figure out how to style it for my life now. What do you think? Do you have items like this?
