Analyze My Pinterest Style

So I finally got serious about clipping some images that I like on to Pinterest. I believe I have personalized the comments on each, to provide a bit more insight into what is appealing to me about a particular ensemble. Most of the current images are fall outfits, but I did try to find a few spring ones.

Can anyone more adept at fashion analysis help me out? How would you describe the style (beyond 'modern classic')? What are the key pieces I would need to more-or-less copy (some/a few of/many of) these outfits? I tend to get overwhelmed and stuck on particular items...which leads into a quite unrealistic shopping list.

Any thoughts on key words I could use to find similar style ensembles?

Ah thats better, it's working now. i see a definite classic vibe, but also some relaxed style and maybe a hint of retro here and there, like the grey/yellow ensemble and the flared jeans. I see a need for a good trench coat as it features in a couple of outfits. Also some on trend tee's are needed and some funky shoes. Knitwear features so maybe a loose sweater and a layering cardi in the right sort of on trend shapes. I may come back later to add but thats what I see for now. BTW I'll follow you if you don't mind

Lovely board, MPJ. I'm also seeing modern classic, combined with relaxed polished casual and dressy elements, and a smidgen of boho flair here and there.

The things/items I see coming back the most - so maybe these are the pieces you could focus on while shopping if you want to recreate the looks on your board:

- a great pair of trouser jeans or bootcut jeans to build your outfits around (there's a fab pair on sale in the YLF store right now)
- (patterned) trench coat
- patterns: stripes - argyle - plaid
- a fun bag (cognac as a neutral or perhaps yellow for a happy touch in Spring)
- ballet flats (I think you already own a few fab pairs?): if you are looking to add more flats to your wardrobe, perhaps a great loafer in an unexpected colour?
- maybe animal print booties for colder weather
- a top in (burnt) orange because you love the colour so much!-)
- chunky (cable) knit sweater
- a button-down shirt
- a great white layering top or tee
- patterned scarf

I would call your style Sunset Classic, after the Sunset District neighborhood in SF. You do have a classic way of putting things together, but I could see you pulling them from hipsterish, interesting shops. I also find there's something coastal yet metropolitan (and thus "Sunset District") about the pieces - hipster-fit tees, chunky sweaters, jeans, tan boots and bags, blues & greens & greys. I think you're bringing in the classic through boots and bags that are polished and structured in design, but keeping an easy vibe through color. Your cover up coats too are classic - the wool car coats and trenches.

You've been very disciplined about the pieces you've pulled (I don't know that I could do that):

Jeans

Tan boots & bags
Drapey blouses
Scarves
Fun accessories/jewelry

These are beautiful selections, how about calling them casual elegance? I notice many of the sweaters and jackets have interesting/dramatic collars or lapels, yet they're still subdued. Also reminds me of Vix's thread on restrained style, maybe "luxe restraint" could also be a descriptor. Definitely buying a chunky cable knit sweater and a tan or cognac bag would be a great way to kick off your spring style.

I see lots of denim, neutrals and a few strong colors - nothing too dressy here and nothing really overly RATE or polished. Mostly casual classics with a slight Free People vibe.

Classic, tailored casual. I think a great fitting pair of jeans, nice tees or sweaters for the slightly slouchy, casual vibe topped off with a structured jacket. A nice statement handbag too. These are very evocative of your WIW posts in the past--I haven't seen you recently though. The color palettes are warm and cozy too--the rich brown, golds and reds.

ETA: Luxe is a great descriptor too!
