I was going to wait until I freshened up a bit to take these photos, but I couldn't help myself. I'm so excited with what I purchased!
First of all, Ana and Patience are so fun to shop with. I enjoyed getting to know them both. Ana looked stunning in her cream and black spotted blouse and Patience had the most killer shoes on!
We only made it to JCrew today. I think Ana has converted me!

I purchased:
o A very cute bright yellow-with-white-dots sleeveless top that is not available online. I had to order my size from another store, so I will post a picture as soon as it arrives. I plan on wearing it with the white clamdiggers or the Matchstick jeans and some red flats.
o Natural white with black polka dots linen skirt - I plan to wear this with a black button up shirt and prop up the collar a little. I just don't have one yet.
o Matchstick jeans, which I love!
o Hammered silk blouse - I plan on purchasing some fun colored patent belts, perhaps a peacock green to wear over this.
o Persimmon featherweight sweater - I definitely want more of these in other colors! I was going to buy the purple, and Ana and Patience insisted I get something in this orange color. Ana even said I should buy everything in the store that comes in that color!
o Navy cord jacket - I thought both the fit and color were great, and it will come in handy when the weather cools down.
And now I have a long wish list of all the other things I would love to get. What I love about what I purchased (and what is on my wish list!) is that I can wear each thing multiple ways. That is so key right now in my transitional phase.

Oh Sarah, I'm so glad you got the skirt and jacket-- those were my favorites. Everything else is super too. I really enjoyed meeting you too. You really do look so good in that red color; the photos don't do justice.

Ana and Sarah are both so nice and fun to shop with. Yes, we did only hit jcrew and I had to skidaddle at 5 because my daughter has been sick and I felt a little guilty shopping and leaving hubbie in charge for too long.

Great purchases! I LOVE everything you got. I especially like the featherweight sweater. I hope those items perked you up a bit. You'll get so much use out of each of those and they look so good on you! See, you just hadn't found the right items yet!

If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a sucker for pleated skirts. I really like the color of the cardigan, but I'm still a little unsure of the fit and style. I ended up going with the small to fit through the shoulders (as per Lauren's, our salesperson, recommendation) but Ana and I were kind of liking the xsmall. I'll try to take pics later this week. But my new favorite color combo is yellow and grey. What other colors do you think I can mix in (for shoes)?

I put this one in another thread. If I do decide to get it, what color? I was wearing a navy slightly a-line skirt today and tried the grey. I definitely need a skirt top for this skirt and thought maybe this would be the best one. The yellow color was wrong for me.

o Spot skirt ensemble: KILLER. This is the best outfit I have seen on you. You need to wear skirts more often! Dinkum.
o Oyster blouse: SOOO pretty.

It was SO fun today! We did only have time to hit J. Crew but it was nice in the store because it wasn't too busy, and I had let Lauren know we were coming ahead of time, so they got us Starbucks and we just had a good time. I think we tried on everything there between the three of us--there were clothes everywhere!

I'm really happy with the stuff I got, and I'm loving the rosette tie belt. I definitely want to invest in another color.

I'm so happy that you're excited about your purchases, Sarah! That red color is *so* amazing on you! When she came out of the dressing room and she was wearing a jacket that color, Patience and I were both saying, "That is your color, you look so amazing in that!" Try the red sweater with the polka dot skirt! That skirt looks so good on you too, I love it!

Patience, after you left Lauren was looking through the catalog and she saw the cashmere Olivia shell and she said to Sarah and I that it would be perfect for you. I said, "In cobalt blue?" And she said, "Blue? Yes, that would be beautiful!" I think you definitely will have to give that a try (and resign yourself to everything in your closet being blue, lol). Hey, as far as shoes for the skirt and cardigan, what about blue? Or champaign/nude might be nice, too. Oh, or silver.

I was very impressed with our personal shopper and the entire JCrew experience. And it was great having two 'professionals' there to help me with my outfits.
Going to a store like this and trying on clothes after clothes really boosted my confidence and gives me a renewed zeal to continue dressing fab. I tried on mostly woven tops and although I had to go up a size sometimes, the fits were perfect and the tops were very flattering. I grabbed a few v-neck t-shirts to try with some of the bottoms, and I was shocked at the difference. My pre YLF self would have grabbed a pair of jeans and all knit tops. The skirt and the bright orange were definitely outside the box for me. And I'm pleasantly surprised.
I don't think I've ever *loved* a skirt on me before now.
I am thinking about exchanging the silk hammered top though - not because I don't like it, but because it doesn't wow me like the skirt does. I think my expectations have been raised. That, and I really want to perfect the skirt outfit since I love that so much.
So how about the jeans? Better than the Levis?
Ana's necklace is gorgeous. I can't wait till she can post a picture for you all!

sarah, all the outfits look great. esp. the skirt. the jeans are such a great fit - i'd say better than the levis. can't remember how you felt about the levis, but you might want to consider taking them back and investing in another pair of these. i was checking out their website and see they have some matchstick cords - http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows...../95824.jsp
have you tried these on? not sure if the fit is the same as the jeans, but they have some fun colors and might be worth a go.

Sarah, I was looking through the catalog on page 16 and the hammered silk shirt comes in other colors. I was thinking if you want to exchange it, try a brighter color. The silver is really pretty and you can pull it off, but I'm thinking either the "sweet potato" color or "bright rhubarb" would be really fantastic on you. Gosh, with your coloring and hair, I even think you could pull off the "Honey glaze," too. If you're looking for a more "neutral" shirt, I think the ivory might be better because you'll have a bit more contrast with your skin, which is SO pretty! I think a stronger color will show it off better. Make sense? I'd try them all on just in case it's the color that doesn't wow you about the top, because the cut and everything looked really good on you. Also, I'd try a thicker, more structured belt with it. The top is very blousy, and I'm thinking a skinny belt might get lost in it.

Way to go all of you! Love your purchases. And Sarah, I'm so glad to hear your distinction between wow and non wow pieces. Once Angie had helped me gut my closet I had to shop for virtually everthing from underwear to shoes to work clothes. But once I had my foundational pieces in place, I only buy things that zing me up and down my spine.

The denim Levis are most definitely going back. Ana, I will try a thicker belt with the silver top or look at the other colors. I currently have a closet full of neutrals, and I'm really liking color now.
Shell, I did try on the Matchstick cords - the pewter color. I love them! If I could have, I would have walked out of that store spending my entire life savings. The cords are definitely on my wish list.

Sarah, I really like the shirt with a wider belt. I prefer that look to the tucked in look. I would go for a brighter color, but I like the top.

I think tucked in and belted both look good. I slightly prefer the belted look, but I think that's just personal taste (you all know how I feel about belts, hee hee). I love the thicker belt with blouse, too. You have to feel good in the blouse, though. I would go back and try on other colors and see if that makes a difference. You can take your belt with you or they might have thicker belts there, too. Try it on with the belts. Sometimes it's hard to imagine, and you actually have to see it all put together before you really know if it's for you or not.

Here's a photo of my stuff. I took these when I tried it on the first time. I will put some outfits together and post photos, probably tomorrow. One of the older members of the rescue group I volunteer for lost her greyhound, so I'm going out later to help put up fliers. It's kind of a crazy day.

Oh, we found her! The lady who owns her is 76 and can't go outside that much, and the lawn care guys didn't latch the gate when they left, so she let the dogs into the backyard and didn't realize the gate was open, so Ginger escaped. Some nice person had picked her up walking along the road, and they posted an ad to Craigslist, so we got her back home by dinner time. Happy ending!
