An almost perfect LBD from Goat. What is the LBD of your dreams?

When I saw this dress from Goat, my heart skipped a beat. It is gorgeous, I think. If it had had a higher neckline in the back (and a lower price), I would seriously have considered it. It is beautiful as it is, but I need a dress that is more versatile for layering under as well as over. Do you agree with me? Is this a perfect classic LBD?

You know, I do not think that the neckline in the back prevents it from layering at all...

Texstyle - that might be a problem, perhaps. I suppose there are holders (quick snap-ons) for straps on the shoulder lining.

Tanya - I think a shirt might look a bit strange under this dress, but a blouse could work. You're right - it could work!

Sarah - that one is gorgeous, too. How would you work around the cut-out in the back if you should layer it? A shirt poufing out of the cut out would probably ruin the look, or am I wrong?

My perfect LBD is a navy or grey dress. I guess I would go for wide straps that hide the bra straps, sleeveless, tailored on top and waist defining with a straight or slight a-line skirt. Knee-length. I don't have any links, I haven't seen the perfect one yet. Yours looks lovely!

My perfect LDB would probably be ................dressy patterned slim silk pants with some navy in the pattern paired with a silk navy sleevess v-neck.

Pretty hard to go wrong with this one and yet an almost. I think you're right about it all.

My guess is that I would be cold in it and have a hard time finding a way to stay warm without ruining the look.

That is beautiful - but it looks too dressy to be a truly layer-under dress.
I wrote a while ago to Mo that IMO every woman needs TWO LBD -- but they don't have to be black.

1 should be a simple wrap, sheath, or shift that she can layer over and under successfully.

2 should be a sexier or more elegant dress where layering isn't really the issue or desire. For me, this dress falls into category 2.

Texstyle, that is a fab version of an LBD - love the jcrew pants.

Rachy, you are spot on. This is too cold for most occasions.

Suz - I've been thinking the same thing. You are probably right, but I want so hard to believe that I can have one both ways. Of course, this one is too dressy for my real life, but it would be perfect in my imaginary one!

It is no longer available in grey, and it has boat neck, not straps. I believe you would look great in this cut.

It is a gorgeous dress and I love the elegant midi length of a tapered skirt. The only thing I am not sure about (aside from the price) is the neckline. It borders on the cap sleeve and I can imagine the shoulders will slip all the time ...but it is a beauty!
Suz, I love your idea of 2 dresses. Now I only need a life which warrants dress type #2...
My dream LBD would be ink blue or very dark purple sleeveless sheath, which reads almost black but not quite...

Joy, that would look great, I agree. But it would still be too dressy for most occasions in my life. Suz is right, this one is probably best for very dressy situations.

Sveta, due to my body type, I prefer a wider shoulder line to balance my hips. This can of course imply impracticalities.
