I officially started my internship at the Met (which I actually didn't qualify for as I have been out of school for a year, so instead I'm performing the same role as a volunteer...which is in fact a much better deal).
Anyway, my supervisor had an appointment at the costume institute to photograph some of the shoes in the collection. The embellished shoe Christmas cards are a big seller at the gift shop and she is starting a new design this year to be sold in 2010, so the pictures were for reference.
Anyway, I got an exclusive look at a bunch of ornamented Dior shoes from the 50's-60's. They were so stunning and beautiful (but looked terribly painful...though who cares?). I wish I could reproduce them in my size. They absolutely belong in the museum. They are works of art.

There were also racks and racks of clothes from YSL, Chanel, & other fashion giants dating back several decades. Actually, a few years ago, they had a Chanel exhibition that I attended and it was superb. I'm crossing my fingers that I will get to help with the embellished shoe Christmas cards. If I do, you'll all get one next year!
