Well, my first thought is, no, not too old because it's all to do with how you style it and the attitude that you wear it with. It's hard to judge without seeing a picture of the sweatshirt, though I did Google some images and saw all sorts of style with different words on. I know that Angie has featured several ensemble ideas over the last couple of years showing tees and sweatshirts with slogans on styled with blazers and jeans or tube skirts etc. Have a browse through the blogs for inspiration.

Hoodies are having a major fashion moment right now which gives you extra leeway, however, I do think it will need careful styling to mitigate the teenage overtones which come with a hoody.

I would have preferred it say "Spiritual Gangsta", myself :). If you really love the style of the sweatshirt and embrace the sentiment, then go for it. I have one that I really like. I'd rather it be plain blue than YOLO spread across the chest, but at least it's a positive message. I wore it to a yoga class and did feel like everyone thought I was trying to wear my daughter's clothes, even though my daughter, if I had one, wouldn't be caught dead in it.

Someone told me once, "If you have to ask (am I too old; I have an integrity question; should I do XYZ) then yes, you probably are, or at least it is tickling your inner conscience. I qualify that by saying you are NOT too old, but perhaps you are too "beyond" in terms of this does not fit with your attitude, your beliefs, your style persona. While it's OK and sometimes good to tiptoe into areas of discomfort to stretch yourself, sometimes, it's just not worth it. My mother often gives me things she finds to be cute, or that she thinks "completely describes you." I thank her and put them in the purge bin. Maybe that is where this sweatshirt needs to live for you.

Cins took the words right out of my mouth. Plus I do have a daughter - who would correct the gangster to gangsta right away and would never wear it herself .....lol. These things are tricky - if you like it, wear it.

I just spent last week in Harry Potter gear, including a Ravenclaw hoodie, and I'm 50. You're only too old if you feel like you're too old.

I think it depends not on age but hip factor. I think this is a very funny line, but it's Hipster 2.0, which is by definition not hip. Not being hip is not inherently bad; it just isn't hip. It's trendy. If that makes sense...
