I like the idea of asking the better question--are these your style or aspirational style? That includes taking "style" not too seriously, as in, I wear what I want, but at heart you will have some inner compass or criteria you apply nonetheless.
So, "rainbow" might be all that is needed for fun and happiness, or someone might want colorful and rainbow but in a different style.
That helps me in trying to add things that are fun but still hit the note I want. It's not an age thing, it's what type of sneaks do I love and want to wear, and how do they help me "get out the door" for casual activities ?
