Am I the only one that does this

I put things on my wish list and I put it off buying them and then it sells out. I missed a dress I really wanted at Nordstrom's and now I'm mad at myself.

Ugh, story of my life. It's so sad logging in every day and seeing "please remove from wish list" on my favorite items.

Debbie, I bet if you called Nordstrom and asked they could find and order the dress for you.

No you are not and this is a major pet peeve of mine! It *seems* to me that not too terribly long ago you could spot an item in a store, go home and think about it only to return and find your size. Now, if I am lucky enough to even find my size, I feel I must buy it on the spot and then return it later if I change my mind. It creates an ugly 'return rut' as Angie called it once. However, I see no other option. If I so much as think I *may* want something I feel I do not have time to think about it because my experience these last few years is things sell out. I am not sure if they are making less???? Anyone know? Or if people are buying more lower priced items (the majority of what I buy) as a sort of reward during these economic times but whatever the reason, this happens to me constantly!

Agrace I've noticed that too. I hate returning things but lately it seem if you hesitate for a second the item is gone.

Things sell out faster. Retailers are stocking less stuff in general and fewer of each item, so if it appeals, it goes out the door. In their minds, better to sell out than to have stock left over to discount later.

Recently I had the experience of something selling out at an online retailer before they could process my order! Now that's aggravating!

Garmenta is spot on. During a recession, retailers stock far less in stores in order to keep their “stock turning” ( it’s a numbers thing and fashion buyers are measured on “stock turn”).

Debbie, I cannot afford to wait for items to go on sale. I can guarantee that my size will be gone if I do. That's a worldwide thing - not just an American phenomenon.

Well, I think it forces people into a return rut. Really, wouldn't it be better to have a bit more produced then people can truly discern if they really want it and need it? I am such a common size (size M, size 8/10 clothing and size 9.5 feet) that I really ahve to buy it if I see it or it will be gone. Then, later when I have more time actually THINK about my purchase, I find I often have to return it. Then...I'm stuck in the dreaded return rut! I do honestly wish I had more time to contemplate an item .

It has gotten to the point where all joy in shopping is gone for me. I used to enjoy going to window shop first and then go back later and buy what 'stuck with me'. Now I don't feel I have that option - and not just for self, I'm talking about children items as well as gifts too!

Garmenta - I have had that happen too. I complained and got a discount coupon code for the next time I placed an order. You could try that?

Debbie, this happens to me all of the time, because of the credit crunch and a very young family I'm on a very strict self imposed clothing allowance. By the time I have the funds the item is usually away.

That happens to me all the time, too - especially with shoes. I am very indecisive, plus I only allow myself a certain monthly budget, so often the item is sold out by the next month

It happens to me too, but then I figure it was not meant to be; if I really wanted it I would have ordered it immediately, so something was holding me back.

Besides, there are just so many other options out there another, better piece will come along soon enough!

This is incredibaly annoying. I just order/ buy in store if i like something then just return if i change my mind. In the past i've had such problems getting things to fit i'm not prepared to risk missing out, make sure the store return policy is sound before buying x

I do this all the time online. I've also had the experience lately where somethign sells out as I am completing my transaction. Incredibly frustrating!
