Am I Rick Owens?

So I was looking for spring -summer toppers last night. And salesperson at Barneys pointed me to this. But I balked a bit, ok a lot at the price. I don't think this is the exact one, because the one I saw was a uniform denim wash.

What do you think?

Like the mixed media. How was it on? To my eye, the interesting hemline shape looks like It may be challenging or perhaps forfeit conventional flattery. Of course, it may not matter if it does! If it passes muster and truly beckons, I guess it's just a question of doing the math.

I love my Rick Owens jackets. Be warned they run VERY small, especially across the shoulders.

However, I am baffled on how that is a summer topper. Maybe I've been in Austin too long.

I could see you in that, Anna. But I like the look better when the grungier part of an outfit is the jeans/ pants and the topper is more polished, personally.
No denying that it's a cool jacket, though.

It seems more streamlined than what I associate with your style. You'd look great in it and take it a whole new super awesome direction, but it doesn't seem core Anna-Style to me. It seems more like me. An interesting twist on a classic item.

Probably not the funnel-neck styling. Maybe the lapel look. Overall it doesn't seem as much like you as the Lim jacket.

Hmm. I could see it, perhaps, but it's not reading much as spring-summer to me either. For your coloring and your spring-summer wardrobe (as I can recall it, at least), I'm thinking a lighter look would suit you better.

I like it a lot. It's totally viable for spring/summer in the PNW ladies, I'm with Anna on this My sis is really into this type of topper, she just bought her second denim-with-soft/mixed-sleeves jacket today (hers was Free People). Are you into wearing something that dark for S/S though?

I recently sold my mixed media jacket on eBay. I'm kind of done with the mixed media leather sleeve jacket look. That would be my fear in purchasing this, that it is expensive and reflects a style (granted, the trademark Owens style jacket everyone copied) as well as fabrication technique that is not early in the trend curve, rather it is at a peak stage of a trend. If that doesn't matter to you, I do think it's a cool jacket. The way it flares out at the bottom makes it unique. But it could also make it fit weird.

I'm just so hooked on new-new-new that when a trend is more saturated, I'm usually ready to move on. Even though most days I never reach your level of fashionista-ness. This doesn't mean I don't love my classic white shirts, dark wash skinny jeans, and Chelsea boots -- I never seem to tire of those. It's just there are certain trends I tire of seeing within a year or two.

I guess I could have said that much more succinctly: if I am going to purchase something at that price point, I want it to be early on the trend curve, so I have lots of years to amortize the purchase over. The R13 Cross overs which I purchased in late 2012, have been that for me.

I do like it myself, but I also did have thoughts along the lines of Denise, especially in light of your recent post about craving something new and fringe that hasn't been done a while already.

In its own way RO jackets are classics. They were here before the copies and they'll continue long after. IMO it's always worth owning an original.
