Am I falling for Alexa Chung?

This is the kind of top I dream about. Classic 60s mod, the perfect olive ..... and it seems to fit my "glam gamine" moniker. But I also wonder how much of my love for this top is because super fashion icon Alexa Chung is attached to it?

Could this top really work on me? It's not cheap but it is discounted 20% this weekend.

I love that it is wool so warm -- but not heavy. I love that it is body skimming, which I can do because of my very small chest. I can imagine it with bootcut / flared jeans (full and cropped), and with skirts (shorter denim and longer black wool pencil). I can also see it with work trousers. As for toppers, I'm not sure about this neckline with a blazer? Maybe it would be best with a black leather jacket.

Do you like this top? Hate it? I really cannot do flowing, artsy looks so when something like this comes along I am like a fly to honey. I'm just looking for a reality check.

To be honest I'm not a fan - this kind of clingy rib knit makes me think not so fun thoughts of my teenage years. But you might not have these associations.

I love the look, but I find rib knit tops especially turtlenecks too, ah, clingy. No vavoom concerns here, but too " defining". I need a flat fluid-y knit that has the slightest drape even if it's a tailored fit.
YMMV and if so, no harm trying in general and especially if free shipping, but for me the photo tells me it's not likely for the way I wear wool knits.

I have tried this on - twice! I LOVE IT. It is everything you are hoping it is. For a tailored dresser, pure perfection. Just so darn expensive. And delicate seeming enough that I have been hesitant to pay full price and stalking it for a markdown. Unfortunately, I am already an Anthro member so cannot take advantage of this promotion.
If you do pull the trigger, size up. I normally go one size up from my standard in clingier items. I needed two sizes up on this. (Though I am a bit squishy in the middle, so YMMV)

I can totally picture this on you!! It really fits with your style aesthetic, and that color is perfect for fall.

Well, also I do not want to be a drip! If it works, it's certainly in the vein of "French 5" as is classic, versatile. ( At the price I would not put it in the " basic- cami" category" but in the category of fine essential tops & bottoms. ) I'm a little put off by acrylic- wool for the price, though sometimes it's a good blend and in reality, to me it just has to pass the feel- good/ tryon test.

I too have a sugar eye for a ribbed knit, even with my generous boobage. I think it looks very nice. That said, I'm very particular about quality at that price and I wouldn't buy acrylic. I'd pass on this and go to Uniqlo.

Leaving issues of price aside, I think it would look good on you. I agree you will need to test it out with jackets -- I'm pretty sure you'd lose the gamine aspect if you wore it with a traditional blazer.

I like the colour , and the idea of it, and know it would look good on you. But....why is it almost $200? I'm not seeing anything special about it to warrant that kind of price. I don't see it under a blazer- agreeing with Lisa here - I think a cropped suede jean-style jacket or moto would work over it and maintain that 70's vibe.

I had a ribbed mock t-neck that looked much like the one you posted Viva but in a silk cotton blend and wore it a lot. I miss it still but wore it to death. If the acrylic blend is acceptable to you (I am not a fan of acrylic) and the color works, give it a try. I found it quite easy to layer that neckline.

I like rib knits, and I think you can bunch them on the bottom to hide problem areas (if you have any).
It's a basic piece though. Can you trust anthro for quality? I don't know because I've never purchased from there.

Thanks all. You've raised such good points! I'm so glad I asked for advice. I do love this style and color but it is a lot for such a basic piece and it is not free shipping or free returns. And, I'm not sure I even qualify for the 20 percent off. I am not ordering. Maybe I will keep an eye out to try on one day in person, or I will try the uniglo turtleneck or similar style at a much better price. Thanks again. Xxx
